MacK_Attack 108 Report post Posted September 21, 2007 TSN has learned that the Los Angeles Kings have placed goaltender Dan Cloutier on waivers Friday. http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=218857&hubname=nhl
Opie 308 Report post Posted September 21, 2007 I would be very surprised if he is picked up. This move by LA did not surprise me, in Manchester (my home town)they have 2 very quality goalies. Are they going to be top notch NHLers, who really knows, but LaBarberra, who right now to me is better than Clouts on his top day, they also have Fukufuji (not sold on him personally) and Brust is not too shabby, haven't seen a lot of him because it seems like LaBarberra never sits. Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted September 21, 2007 I gotta say, I'm suprised................that the Kings didn't figure it out last year and do this sooner. No offense to Cloutier, but he simply is not starting goaltender material. He did pretty well with Vancouver, but who remembers when it all started to fall apart? That's right, when Nick beat him from the red line back in game 3 of Round 1 in 2002. The fact that he's way too injury prone doesn't help his case either. I'm pretty sure that the Kings didn't qualify Fukufuji, so I don't think he's with them anymore. (By the way, those noises you hear are the Toronto media starting up the Raycroft-to-L.A. rumours) Edited September 21, 2007 by MacK_Attack
Opie 308 Report post Posted September 21, 2007 I haven't seen Aubin so I really can't say. If we were in the league I may have been able to trade a goalie with you seeing as I have Kipper, Nabby, and Budja. My D is Lids, Ralf, Zhitnik, Boucher and my offense is going to struggle although I did pick up Penner off of Waivers and have Satan, E. Staal, Demitra, and Sykora. But I could really use some help. The last 3 fantasy leagues I have joined I drafted 10 of 10, 12 of 12, 9 of 12, and my BBall one hasn't drafted yet so I will probably be 12 of 12 again. Chase 0 Report post Posted September 21, 2007 Damnit! I picked him up on waivers in my fantasy team thinking he would battle for the number one spot with LaBarbera! Ah well...
GMRwings1983 8,794 Report post Posted September 21, 2007 Well, there's our enforcer. He is one of the best fighting goalies in the league. Now if only the Sens would let Emery go.

MacK_Attack 108 Report post Posted September 21, 2007 Maybe he should just retire And sacrifice $6.2 milliion? He'd be wise to just go to Manchester and collect his money.

Zeta Power 40 1 Report post Posted September 21, 2007 LA is going to probably got for Gerber from Ottawa now.
Packer487 3 Report post Posted September 21, 2007 Good thing the Kings traded a 2nd rounder + for him instead of just signing Manny Legace when they had the chance.... How did they think that acquiring Cloutier was a good idea. He was pretty much the reason Vancouver was never really a threat in the West...
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted September 21, 2007 Wouldnt be suprised to see L.A. get either Gerber or Raycroft, and then CuJo signs with whichever team loses a goalie.
Wings_Fan_In_Exile 3 Report post Posted September 21, 2007 i'd pretty much be shocked to see any team claim him off waivers....
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted September 21, 2007 I wouldnt at all be surprised to see LA take on Geber. Although I think Ottawa would have to be on the short end of that deal, but they really need that cap space to sign Spezza and Heatley...if they even have the space to at all. westcoastfan 0 Report post Posted September 21, 2007 TSN states "The former Canucks netminder was expected to challenge for the number one goaltender spot this season with the Kings but has been outplayed in the pre-season by junior eligible netminder Johnathan Bernier who shone for Canada at the Summit Series"
shannyfan1414 0 Report post Posted September 21, 2007 Good thing LA spent all that money on him last year. They must be jumping for joy right about now.
Opie 308 Report post Posted September 21, 2007 (edited) TSN states "The former Canucks netminder was expected to challenge for the number one goaltender spot this season with the Kings but has been outplayed in the pre-season by junior eligible netminder Johnathan Bernier who shone for Canada at the Summit Series" Bernier played for the Lewiston (my former hometown's twin city) Maineiacs and was a key to them winning it all in the QJMHL. He is a very solid backstop. Edited September 21, 2007 by Opie

MacK_Attack 108 Report post Posted September 22, 2007 I guess he'll be off to Russia perhaps maybe... He'll stay in the AHL and collect his $3.1 million this year and next year. A team may take a chance on him on re-entry waivers if they feel they could use a half-decent backup.
