Viperar 16 Report post Posted October 10, 2007 (edited) I purchased a new jersey this weekend at the Capitals game, and as a fan I love them. Granted they have problems for the players and I believe Reebok is on top of that, but as a fan I notice the small things that make them wearable in everyday life. I also think they look fine on the hockey players, whether the team jersey is nice or not, thats the team's problem in their logo design. 1. The jersey fits nicely and I can wear it as an everyday piece of clothing now without feeling like I have some blanket or giant shirt on. 2. The sleeves have the cut offs so you can roll them up. I am sorry but nothing annoyed me more than how fast the sleeves would roll down on the older jerseys when it was hot out, and you would be left with a big baggy jersey that not only looks weird, but cant go short sleeved. 3. I realize this is not "old time" hockey anymore, and with Reebok working on the problems for the jersey I think much will be mended. In conclusion, I am going against what most of you on here have stated and now some analysts are saying as a bad move, from the fan's perspective, the jerseys look good, feel good, and dont make me look like an idiot with a skirt on. sorry had to get that out there Edited October 10, 2007 by Viperar

A hockey jersey with rolled up sleeves, that would make things look more normal. Seriously, no offense Viperar. I just got a little chuckle out of that comment. SliderJeff 11 Report post Posted October 10, 2007 (edited) Me too (wearing jerseys to work). In fact, I have my old Nike Authentic Yzerman jersey on as we speak here at work. I routinely wear various jerseys I have during the Winter months. I just wore this particular jersey here today because I didn't want to iron last night and had to be up at 5am today. So yeah, it's 94 degrees out, but I've got my DRW gear on. Later, Jeff Edited October 10, 2007 by SliderJeff

Guest jaytan Report post Posted October 10, 2007 I hadn't seen one in person until I saw a guy on the bus wearing a Rangers jersey today. It didn't look bad at all, but it certainly looked different. It seemed almost like he was wearing a light jacket rather than a hockey jersey.

Guest jaytan Report post Posted October 10, 2007 "One of the players said the uniforms are fine," Bettman said. "Some players just don't like change." - That's the best part of the article. It seems Buttman cares a lot about the league. After all, he asked one player for his opinion on this issue.

I agree with you 100% on it being a better thing for a fan, The old style jerseys are nice and everything but they feel bulky and wearing it makes you feel like your swimming in it. the new ones will look nice to wear casually I haven't got one yet, but I'm going to pick up a new Datsyuk jersey really soon at HockeyTown Authentics, hopefully they will have the A on it already. My little brother and I plan on taking a trip to Washington this year and were going to get a Ovechkin jersey at the game, I was just wondering is it cheaper to get them before hand online before we go or is it a better idea to get one at Verizon Center?? Don't need a authentic one or anything the replica will be fine but the new caps jerseys besides the Wings are probably the best looking jersey in the league now, Red and White both look nice. oh yeah and I really like the V neck with the the new NHL platinium logo, looks nice Edited October 10, 2007 by WingNutt
Izzy24 44 Report post Posted October 10, 2007 What's to stop Chelios from just wearing an old jersey, but with the NHL crest sewn on the neck so nobody will know the difference, and what's to stop him from wearing last year's more durable socks?

I wear a hockey jersey when I am playing hockey, attending a game (sometimes) or occasionally when I am watching a big game at home. You're not the odd ball. I never wear a hockey jersey unless I'm actually playing hockey. I'm not the jersey wearing type, but I wear Wings T-shirts and Hooded Sweatshirts. Hahaha no worries Mac, I realize that comment is kinda awkward, I dont think i meant the baggy look would be rectified with the sleeves being rolled up or anything. And you know what, I kind of said that wrong myself. I didn't mean to use the word rectified. What I was going for was that I've never seen people attempt to roll up the sleeves of a hockey jersey before. To me, that would look akward.
Offsides 21 Report post Posted October 10, 2007 I usually only wear jersies on game days...but I would wear them whenever if I felt like it...they're nice and warm and I have lots of them..hee hee. Still don't like the new jerseys..but I think the Bettman quote above is hilarious! haha.

Also since the new uniforms interferes with the players comfortability and therefore their playing ability, the level of hockey decreases. I know they are professionals and all, but I'm sure it's still aggravating. So much for 12 percent faster hockey.
