Doan requests trade ?

dont know much about it , anyone else have any info Rumor is that Doan has requested a trade... I don't know if buy it - he seems to love Phoenix. I know the Wings have been interested in him for a while though... unfortunately I don't believe the guy has ever scored over thirty goals so while a great guy, I don't see him being what the Wings needmation ???The TEAM 1260 reported yesterday that according to a credible source, Doan is not happy with the direction the team is going, and has asked for a trade. Phoenix will reportedly trade him within the first 40 games of the season.

To be fair, he plays for a god awful hockey team and doesn't get much help in scoring those goals.

I would like Doan. But who do we give Phoenix for him? Kronvall? I'd take that trade. Phoenix will not, however. Dat/Zetts? Hell no. Samuelson/Hudler + Pick? Sure, but Phoenix isn't going to take that.

And he hasn't scored more than 30 because of the people around him, get Pavel or Z setting him up and poof.

In fact i've said for three years this team was one dominate RW away from a stanley cup, we get doan,....break out the sliver polish

I would love him as a Wing. He is a hard hitting forward that can score goals, and does not shy away from a fight. He averages about 4 fights a season.

When this came up the other year ... when it looked like he was going to be a UFA, I eventually came around to him. He is big, tough, and can score. Yeah, I'd definatley like to see him in Detroit. Doan is a competitor, and eventually it has to wear on him playing for a team which will never ever stand a chance.

Doan would be a perfect fit for us. If we could work something around Kronwall, that would be a great move. We have guys coming down the pipe that can bring what Kronwall brings (or might bring). We don't have anyone that resembles Doan in any way.

A couple threads on another board. Apparently an Edmonton radio host brought it up as something he heard (Edmontonian have long been hankering for Doan as the Oil passed him up at the draft IN Edmonton when the fans were chanting his name when the Oil were up to pick).

He would be a nice fit in Detroit, but Phoenix would want the moon and stars for him, especially when Holland is inquiring. Im sure they would want a combo of the following...

There is no way Doan alone would fetch either of those two (or anyone of similar calibre from another team). They are both significantly better than Doan and even the guy running the show in Phoenix ought to know that.

Remember, that if the rumor is true and Doan wants out, that sort of leaves the 'Yotes' hands tied. You pretty much have to move him and that kills your bargaining power. Plus, Doan has a NTC so he can pick and choose where they send him.

Im sorry, I would love to have Doan here, but not for Kronwall. Hudler/Sammy pick, if we give up Kronwall our defence gets very thin, Kindl cannot handle the NHL right now, Quinceys injured and Meech isnt very good, add in the fact that Lilja would play more minutes. Not a good scenario.

Even if he really is available, I doubt the Wings would have much of a shot at him...he would come expensive, and there are plenty of teams out there who are in positions to give up a lot more for him than the Wings would...he would make a fantastic addition to the second line though, that's for sure.

Doan would be an absolute dream to have on the Wings. He is the type of player that this team hasn't had in a very, very long time.

Alas, I don't see it happening. It wouldn't make much sense for a guy who just signed a contract extension to request a trade. Unless that much has gone down since then, which I doubt it has.

Still, Doan would be a perfect fit here. He'd address the need for a top 6 forward, a scoring winger, and grit. He's such a great all around player.

There's probably no way would could take on all 3 contracts (Zetterberg's going to get a well deserved pay raise very soon) and still have a well rounded/competitive team. We don't want to turn out like Tampa Bay and have most of our cap taken up by 3 guys.

That's the beauty of Doan. He only makes $4.5M/yr. There is no problem whatsoever of fitting that into our framework. None at all.

He's averaged 25 goals per season over the last 7 seasons playing for Phoenix. He's never played with a puck distributer on par with Datsyuk or Zetterberg. And even if his numbers don't improve, a consistent 25goal 60point winger is exactly what we need. Overpaying to get him (or anyone) is always a concern, but if the rumor is true that he wants out, it's hard to ask for the moon. Especially this early in the season when a lot of the usual takers likely don' thave the money available for him. We do.

Doan is easily worth the 5 year 23 million extension he signed. Roughly 4 and half mill a year...how is that breaking the bank? He is EXACTLY what this team needs....fits the criteria to a tee! Obviously Zetterberg and Datsyuk arent going anywhere, but there is nothing else in the organization that shouldnt be given up to make this happen.
