I think 1.5 is good. He'll be getting double the salary he has had. I don't care if he doesn't get 20 + goals again. He does a lot more for this team than just scoring

i'd say $1.25 mill is fair. if he wants to go higher then 1.5 i'd say good bye.

I can't believe there's actually people against the idea of locking Cleary up. In case you've forgotten, the dude was 20-20-40 last year. For a guy considered a 3rd liner, those aren't bad numbers.

I don't think he's worth more than $1.5, though, because his success is as much about his abilities as it is him playing in a system that he's comfortable playing in. I'd say a 3 year/$3.3 M deal would be most fair.

He is a good guy, a hard worker and he's still relatively young. Lock him up! Besides, if he left, I don't think I could break it to my hamster. Poor little Niklas Matthieu Daniel Robert had a very bad offseason. I don't think Cleary leaving would set very well with him.

Plus, he's a good role model for all the young Newfies. And that's something money can't buy.

Cleary gives it all when it's needed. Lock him up.

Exactly. He's become part of the heart of this team. He may not score a lot, but he does score. Not to mention that he comes through when no one else does and gives the team the spark to get moving. Lock him up. Hopefully he won't ask for too much, though. Hopefully he'd cut the team that gave birth to his career renaissance a break and know they're looking long-term with Zetterberg, too.

Cleary definitely seems like the kinda guy at this point in his career that'd value a longer term contract over dollars. 1.2 for 3 or 4 years oughta do it.
