puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted November 15, 2007 (edited) who appoints/selects the coaches? If Babs is coach for the West, Ozzie will be there. If not, I don't think the Wings are popular enough (nothing to do with Ozzie) for there to be enough votes alone to get him in there. Quite frankly, I think there is enough dislike and jealousy amongst non-Wing fans, they will vote for anyone besides a Red Wing. Fans being as they are, will vote for a "name" they see a lot in media over talent and deserving to be there, skillwise. It certainly happened last time... I hope if Dom does get voted in (and I think he probably will), he can somehow hand it over to Ozzie. I don't want either of them going, since I think the whole show is an invitation to needless injury, but I know you all want to see Chris there, so I hope Ozzie gets the nod. Someone was saying that the coaches have some sway on alternates and such, so I was just saying that if Babs was behind the bench, Ozzie might have a better shot. Its not that we just want Ozzie to get voted in to get voted in an All-Star game... he is playing currently like he DESERVES to be there. there is a difference. I am sorry, but honstly, throwing out past s***... Dom is NOT playing like an All-Star this season... case and point. He has no right to be on the ballot. You said you thought he would get voted in and I asked if you really thought that because I don't think Dom has even a remote chance of getting voted in at this point. In terms of coaches....they have no say.

He has no right to be on the ballot. apparently, someone involved in the ballot selection thought so. Hasek did play well enough last season so maybe that was the basis for the nomination on the ballot? He was passed over in favor of Turco. Again, I was glad Dom didn't go, and don't mind if he doesn't get chosen this year either. What players deserve and what they end up with often isn't fair or right, but there you have it. In terms of coaches....they have no say. Good grief. Yes, I think he might get voted in. The voting fan base as a whole (not just Red Wings fans) may recognize the fact that at this point in the season, we might not be seeing how Hasek will performing between now and January. He might tank, or he might recover his form. If the voting ended today, Ozzie is playing better, and if people vote on that basis, then I can see Ozzie getting a ton of votes. Do you think Ozzie has the drawing power to be a write-in winner?

Do you think Ozzie has the drawing power to be a write-in winner? I didn't mean to get picky, I was just wondering why you thought Dom had a chance. In terms of your earlier comments, those selecting the names to go on the ballot wouldn't have been taking into account how players have performed this season (slection may even have occurred prior to the start of the season, I'm not sure). I don't think there is much of a chance at all of Ozzie getting voted in. Even if he was on the ballot, I doubt he would have much of a chance, I just don't think that many would vote for him, nothing to do with stats. I think someone like Luongo would get a lot of votes. In terms of Hasek, again, not sure how many votes he'd get, I just don't see him as a very popular goalie amongst the fans as a whole. I could be wrong, but that's my general sense. So combine that with the fact that he is not playing that well....
dustin35 0 Report post Posted November 15, 2007 I hope we all are putting in ozzie on the ballot. I'm sure we all vote enough we can get ozzie to the game at least as the 3rd period goalie. lets how him our thanks for always being true to our city even when everyone raged on him. Again, for those that still do not understand the voting process: Fans only vote for the starting lineup, so unless Osgood gets more votes than any other Western conference goalie, the number of votes he receives would be absolutely meaningless. If he finishes in 2nd in voting amongst goalies (Western conf.) this would mean absolutely nothing. If he deserves to get in based on his performance and isn't the top vote getter, then he will probably be selected to the team by Hockey Operations.

PenaltyShot 96 521 Report post Posted November 15, 2007 For Ozzie and/or Homer to have a serious chance, then they need a campaign like Rory had. Try to reach the facebook/myspace crowd...if there can be 'one million strong for Hilary/Obama/Colbert' groups, surely there would be ten million strong for Osgood get er done Kenny! I tend to agree with you... but then again, I am not that interested in the entire affair. It was cool years ago when real all-star players were there, but now it's just PR. Which is OK, I guess. Anyway, when has the NHL been accused of being honest and forthright in just about anything, lately? This would be no exception.

I haven't been filling in all the stuff, as I understood that all that was just for a chance to win the promotional stuff. My votes are still getting counted even though I didn't register, right?
