Wearing visiting teams jersey. Okay or not?

Well, you need to convert him first and foremost.

As for your answer, I don't think many Wings fans are going to heckle a 13 year old for wearing a Duck's jersey.

I'm working on it. Another Cup would help.

I've heard abouth the crazy Ranger fans beating up people in visiting team jerseys. I had hoped that us WING fans would be more civilized.

You don't have anything to worry about like that. The worst he might hear is "Ducks suck!" but like someone said, a 13 year old isn't going to get flamed....unless he starts it of course. :P

at one point or another i have worn the opposing team jersey to joe for a game except (sharks and Nashville) as I don't own them...

I actually get a kick out of it... Nothing happens... absolutely NOTHING happens except for some ribbing. When Ozzie is playing though i usually where one of his or my Rivers jersey.

I don't see any reason if he is a Ducks fan why he should not wear the jersey to a game.

I remember one game i had to sit by myself cause i bought a ticket seperately than offsides and her friend (using our season tickets)

It was against the Blue Jackets... I had on my Nash jersey... Loved it when Nash got a hat trick... its fun to stir the pot a bit down there.

Not to mention i can see the wings anytime i want on tv so i usually pick games when i can see my favs plays (obviously i have jerseys of all theirs) so I wear them... it works nicely because they usually will sign them afterwards :D

So i say DO IT nothing is going to happen he is only 13 anyways... although we are murder capital of the country now (HOLLA!) nothing will happen to your son that wouldn't happen even if he was wearing a wings jersey.

now i do have a problem with are the ones wearing OTHER TEAM JERSEYS that aren't actually in the game... and don't have the names on the back of a current player. Thats when i say lame. For instance 'hawks #7 cheli fine to wear in a at a 'canes vs. Wings game... Savard 'hawks jersey not cool to wear at that same game. looks sad.

you have aboslutely NOTHING to worry about at the Joe!

you might get some crap from fans... i emphasize that it'll be YOU though, not him.

i'm sure you'll hear some people say how horrible of a parent you are or things alike but no one WOULD EVER harm or touch you or your little boy. I went to the 'Hawks game this past Saturday and there were NUMEROUS people in Chicago jerseys including some of my friends (our buddy is Wisnewski) and while they did get some comments thrown their way no one ever took it too far!

you'll be all good!

ohhhhhhh, and if you dont convert your son soon, he's gonna grow up liking a team that will PROBABLY SUCK after the next couple years! besides, the Ducks have NO history like the Wings do... While youre there explain to him who Howe and Yzerman are, explain to him all the history the Wings have and how amazing of a team they are. Then proceed to tell him how the Ducks were named after a stupid Disney hockey movie and have only won a single cup. End of story!

COMPLETELY uncalled for. And not funny.

These kinds of posts WILL earn suspensions if you keep them up.

Thanks to all (almost all) who posted here. Thanks for the info. He does like the Wings too though, forgot to mention that. Stevie, Shanny, Lidstrom, etc...

I agree with betterREDthandead, and thanks for saying so: not funny at all.

Later folks.

Considering JLA is like a graveyard most of the time, you shouldn't have to worry about anything. Red Wings fans are extremely boring and non-passionate. You'd here more noise at a library or at an outdoor swimming pool in the middle of January than at a Wings game.

Sorry guys, but it's the truth. I think if ticket prices were lowered, you'd see more passionate fans go to games. But everyone knows that will never happen as long as Illitch is running the show. You'll find a live dinosaur before the Wings charge affordable tickets.

Hehe... I'm such a cynical jerk sometimes. ;)

You have a Jamie Rivers jersey? Wow, it's been a while since I've heard his name. :P

After the game against Calgary, me and my friends were walking around and every time someone who was wearing a calgary jersey walked by us, we'd loudly say "Wow, that guy must feel like a loser wearing that flames jersey"

A thirteen year old will be fine.

I wore my Yzerman Jersey to the Wings/Oilers game 6 WCQF 2 years ago - I thought I was going to get murdered, I am a 22 year old, and I think that would be the worst age because lots of guys are out looking for fights. It was completely fine for 3 reasons. Hockey fans in Edmonton are not retards and respect a guy who is an Yzerman fan, I did not heckle them or cheer loudly when the Wings scored - I simply stood and clapped politely - and, the Oilers won, so everyone was in a good mood. It may have been different if the Wings won, but I had a hoodie to cover up on the way to and from the game on the train.

You sure you're not a Rangers fan?

Haha, no, what makes you thing that?

And ouch, I guess this forum is too sensitive for a mild (at best) little joke. Obviously I don't think you should kill your son or even think twice of him being a ducks fan. I doubt people at the Joe would do anything physically harmful to an adult wearing a ducks jersey, let alone a kid. Apologies if I struck a nerve.
