The Noodle 39 14 Report post Posted November 23, 2007 Dom was fine tonight.. the Wings just did not score on there powerplays. Especially that long 5 on 3. Gimme a break! Has the world turned upside down and our team plays better in front of Osgood than Hasek? lol I remember Draper saying lat season was fun and felt like 2002 again with Dom in net and they had no worries back there. IMO it will be like that again soon. I know everybody loves Ozzie i do too but unless barring injury Dom is the man in the playoffs and is our x factor for stealing a cup. I have seen Ozzie when hes hot and when hes not. He's Chris Osgood and i love him as a person and a wings player but not the #1 guy in net for a stanley cup season. Right now, it doesn't seem that Ozzie can ever lose a game or that Dom can ever win one again, but both situations are bound to happen. It's just so extreme to see Dom with these stats -- so I guess the reaction from fans is predictably extreme as well.
2probert4 8 Report post Posted November 23, 2007 Mickey and Ken never dole out the blame. People n-2-2 eed to take one look at Mason to know what a goaltender who plays a good game looks like. If Dom had played like Mason did tonight, I wouldnt be complaining. But there was a clear example of good goaltending (meaning, good positioning, good rebound control, good 5 hole coverage, etc), and Dom wasnt it. He shouldve had the 2nd goal without a doubt. Not to mention another lack of rebound control led Lidstrom to make a save that otherwise wouldve been a goal. Mason didn't have that great of a game either, he just had 3 or 4 guys dropping back from center ice continually, just like every team has been doing to the Wings these days. Sort of similar to that 1-2-2 crap Columbus has been doing. Wings were taking long shots again, and not getting many shots off of rebounds hence the 3 and 4 guys sitting in front of the Preds net. auxlepli 17 Report post Posted November 23, 2007 This isn't a good stat. The Wings have lost more times in the division this season than they did all of last season, when they went 23-4-5. http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article.../711230420/1053 The Wings are playing better than last year but not against Central Division foes. It's a shame the schedule didn't change this year.

Yeah, I thought Dom was fine, just not enough scoring on our part. Did anyone else love his penalty? On his way to the bench for the extra skater he ramed a Predater with his butt and got an interference penalty! I ROFLed
Hollinger 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2007 Schedule loss. Wings didn't want to play this game. Yeah. Honestly, who wants to play on Thanksgiving (or any holiday)?

GMRwings1983 8,803 Report post Posted November 24, 2007 Yeah. Honestly, who wants to play on Thanksgiving (or any holiday)? Apparently Nashville did. There's no excuse losing to a last place team like that.
datsyukismyfriend 4 Report post Posted November 24, 2007 so the wings have dropped 5 of their last 7. all to the central. this is pretty sad. how do you go from winning nine in a row to losing 5 of seven?

OsGOD 3 Report post Posted November 24, 2007 Yeah. Honestly, who wants to play on Thanksgiving (or any holiday)? I dunno who wants to work on the weekend... Wings should throw in the towel tomorrow also. Its a game... its a job... you go out to win every day.. doesn't matter.
kylee 727 Report post Posted November 24, 2007 Apparently Nashville did. There's no excuse losing to a last place team like that. nashville is not a true last place team. i think they'll be in the playoff hunt this spring. plus even if they were a cellar team, they ALWAYS play detroit hard regardless, so gotta hand it to nashville as well. 2probert4 8 Report post Posted November 24, 2007 Jesus...Preds fans want a penalty for anything. Oh yeah, and your players are cheap shot artists, but if Tootoo does his crap thats just hockey. Lots of fans there that don't know much about what goes on besides the score. Apparently Nashville did. There's no excuse losing to a last place team like that. They've always had the issue of struggling vs the Predators when they weren' that good of a team, like this season, but the past couple of seasons when they were loaded the Wings take it up another level, what was it last year, 6-1-1 ? It could just be me, but it seems this season the Wings play to the level of their opponent.
VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted November 24, 2007 Nashville isn't a cellar team. I think a lot of people around here dont bother to look at the standings. Every team in the Central Division other than the Wings is only separated by a point or two. ANd even they aren't far behind the Wings. One bad run for the Wings, and one half-way decent recent for any of the other Central teams and the WIngs are suddenly struggling to stay afloat.

Exactly, which is why the Wings have to come out focused for every game. This way they'll avoid putting up any turkeys like they put up Thursday night, no pun intended.
