I wonder if the people who choose these look at shot totals...I think the Dom had about 50 total in 3 games.

maybe its about quality not quantity? or just about the role goalie played in these games

and not by the number of pucks directed at him?

I'd rather give such award to Hasek saving 10-15 crucial shots than Giguere with 50+

a game where none of it is of actual difficulty to him. my 0.02 EUR

I say that all the time, and It could be someone actually took it into consideration for a change. Degree of difficulty is usually not considered by those who are impressed with numbers of shots rather than difficulty/importance of the saves.

Good for Dom.

Hasek, returning to the Detroit crease after missing four games with a sore hip, won three consecutive starts and posted a 1.00 goals-against average and .942 save percentage. The 42-year-old Czech also had a shutout, the 77th of his career, to move past Tony Esposito and Ed Belfour into sole possession of eighth place on the all-time list.

just like most of the people here looked at the shot totals osgood got right ?? lol

Hasek did the job the past week just like ozzie was , thats all we can ask and i know its only a week but as i said hasek would rebound and be our starter in the post season , so dont get all mad ozzie lovers

And how about about hudler , some of you wanted to trade him in a deal and hes been outstanding recently and it would be stupid of holland to trade which he wont , hudler has a bright future in detroit

Out of the 50 or however he faced in all three games maybe 10 were quality saves. And I think that is generous. I mean it's great that he is playing better than he has, don't get me wrong, but he hasn't been challenged nor had to be relied upon to save a game. These past three games have been excellent stepping stones for him but to say he was a star of the week or he is "back to his old form" is going a little too far right now imo.

Hudler is faring great so far this season. but the real value of a player is assessed

in playoffs. he's been good last year but whether he's the impact player we all

want him to be - that remains to be seen. should he not live up to the potential,

he's definitely a trade bait.

Hasek is an impact player. he may play s***ty in the regular season at times, but come

playoffs he's the ultimate warrior. and that's the big picture

Yeah, cause Giguere's illegal gear makes him a a big ol' cheater.

He had a pretty sick pad save against Carolina that made me think "hes still got it."

Like Ive said before, I dont have a bias when it comes to goaltending, I just want to see the tenders playing well. Hasek did that. Spectacular? He did what he had to do to win the game. Thats what goaltenders should do. Whether or not he was deserving of being one of the three stars, I dont know, but hes made some huge strides.

Same line of thought, Hejduk and Kopitar were just doing their jobs, too.

Dom's made a vast improvement in the last week, compared to his earlier games when he was injured or whatever was going on with him, so I guess they decided to give him some props.

Awesomeness.

Do they still do offensive and defensive players of the month? My cousin told me Oz was for the month of November.

I thought so, too, HC. I went over to nhl.com to look earlier today, and my boss interrupted me. <_<

:P

hudler wasnt nowhere as good last year as hes been playing so far this season , his skating has improved dramatically , the only thing im worried about is in the post season teams play more tight and im afraid unless we get a big body who can play on his line with filppula they might just get knocked around , but the thing i do like about hudler is he gets back up , i wouldnt trade him anytime soon for a rental or we'll regret it

and you want get any disagreements about hasek , hes old but he wont end his career on a bad note , hes gonna bounce back

I meant last year's playoff and IMHO he played a very solid campaign last time.

he hasn't been an impact player but very solid and providing good offence.

it doesn't make sense for a rental player. but in a trade that lands us quality scorer

for long term... why not?

Pity handout. Nothing more, nothing less.

Did he play bad? No, but the two games that I believe would've counted for the week were utter and complete jokes. I think he'd even tell you that. Even yesterday, 2 goals on under 20 shots for a sub .900 sv%? Good for him for getting the nod, but if his name weren't Dominik Hasek, this wouldn't have happened.

Were you aware that Hasek plays for the Red Wings? We get that you don't like him, but it's not necessary to jump in and deny him credit for coming back from injury and a tough start.
