Zetterberg, Holmstrom stay in Detroit

I know back injuries can be bad, but it is not usually until surgery. Most re-occurring back injuries that do not require surgery are a day or two with some lingering pain and stiffness. I am sure playing a game like Hockey will only make it worse. But with Forsberg, he had Ankle injuries, those are devastating especially in a game like Hockey. I have a feeling he will always have lingering back issues that throughout his career will cost him 5-10 games a year, but it doesn't sound like this is something that could cost him 1/2 to a full season at any point in time.

But that is just my guess, I am not a chiropractor but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night!

While I will definitely miss having Hank and Homer out on the ice, and wish them a speedy recovery, I DO like the fact that guys like Filppula (who has been playing VERY WELL lately) and Cleary get a chance to play with Dats. Getting to play with him is surely gonna help them rack up some points and hopefully build confidence and momentum for the rest of the season/playoffs.

To be expected. The great thing about this trip is it'll help Kenny gauge what he needs to do 2 months from now.

As much as it sucks that Zetterberg and Holmstrom are out, you're right. It will help him gauge his future needs.

That's what I'm telling myself.

But really, I think that unless the Wings get absolutely destroyed, this trip won't mean much in the way of "future considerations."

See the thing that's great about this team, is no matter who is out of the lineup, there is always someone else ready to step up his game. If most teams were to lose two guys like Hank and Homer, they would have a real hard time coping. But not us. No matter what happens, it seams like the Red Machine just keeps on rolling.

Zetterberg's always getting injured, isn't he? He's really turned out to be a great player, but I wish he'd suck it up and put together a full season sometime.

You have honestly GOT to be kidding me. Always getting injured? When? Last year he had a back injury...which he played through in the playoffs and produced through by the way. What else? Oh yeah, someone broke his leg once. Hmmm...ok two games this season. What the hell else? You wish he'd "suck it up?" Have you even seen his numbers? In case you missed it, he has 90 points in his last 56 games played. I think he's doing ok.

You took the words right out of my mouth. Anyone saying Zetterberg is like a Forsberg, is clearly very clueless.

What? Come again? Always getting injured? He missed the end of last season, but played in the playoffs, and may miss about 4 games so far this year. That's not always getting injured. Not to may players play all 82 games.

Well, me managed to win against Minnesota. We've won without them before, we can do it again.

Hank's not always being injured. It's just the same injury twice, if that makes sense. He misses the last half of last season and plays through the pain to help out durring the playoffs.

No, he isn't.

It's kinda hard to play an 80+ game season without missing a few games here and there, I don't care who you are. I'm no super duper athlete but I try to run at least 3-4 times a week and it wears the hell out of me and it's not uncommon that I am sore.

Back injuries are shockers aren't they? You can rush them, all you can do is wait and hope that it improves. I'm a bit concerned about Hank's back and Holmstrom being out for a "minimum of 2 weeks" is a worry.

But as others have mentioned it gives others a great oppertunity to shine, mainly Hudler, Filppula and Cleary. I'm pretty confident they can produce with the extra responsibilities.
