Guest wingswillwincup Report post Posted January 2, 2008 (edited) im sure most of you will say you hate him and wouldnt want him here for his behaviours , but we also hated chelios when he was a hawk ...... i cant help but think how different our team would look like if he was still here Hes a big ball buster , which were kinda lacking ( though we dont really need it it would be kinda nice ) he can chip in 10-15 goals and can fight , so that basically would eliminate downey he can hit , i know theres no point talking about it since hes long gone but what do you think our team would look like if we had him ? Its hard to be better then what we are now since were 1st overall , but i think it would add more of a meanstreak to our team which we dont have, having avery in the playoffs would be a help and a big upgrade if you ask me ,again he's not a likeable guy but he knows his role and plays it damn well Edited January 2, 2008 by wingswillwincup

When we traded the guy away, we were unloading a bad-attitude, penalty-minute machine in exchange for a star D-man. Avery sucked back then.

irishtemper14+25 11 Report post Posted January 2, 2008 he would really help in the playoffs, he takes allstars off their game. remember what he did to kovalchuck last yr? he completely took him off his game. he is an agitator and thats y a lot of ppl dont like him, but i loved him as a wing and really want him back
ben_usmc 253 Report post Posted January 2, 2008 the only problem with having him is that we don't have a true heavyweight to protect him so he wouldn't be as effective, sure he can fight middle weights but you know who heavys would take runs

LOL , ya cause im sure having avery on the team would be the reason we'd be out I think he'd be a real asset here , when we got rid of him he did have a bad attitude and didnt know how to control himself on the ice , hes a better player now , we might of gotten rid of him too soon

CopenhagenWing 38 Report post Posted January 2, 2008 By sucked im sure you mean a friggin badd ass. No, I think he meant exactly what he said. Avery's still too much of a loose cannon.
LionsAndRedwingsAndPistonsOhMy 3 Report post Posted January 2, 2008 We traded Avery for Shneider if I remember correctly. I remember being very thrilled at the time, because the only thing Avery was producing was minutes in the penalty box. I dodn't remember him being a good hockey player here, only a second-rate enforcer.
puckbags 863 Report post Posted January 2, 2008 By sucked im sure you mean a friggin badd ass. The guy was a fringe 3rd/4th liner when he was here and thats why he got traded. He was expendable. As for having him back now? No thanks, we have the best team chemistry in the league on this team and the last thing we need is for him to come in and create distractions!! Turkey 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2008 I clearly recall watching Avery play back then and thinking "what the hell is this guy's problem?" He was in the box all the time. I was relieved to see him go as he seemed like a guy who was all mouth and no follow through. He's developed a lot since then. I'm not sure how I feel about his style of play but there is no denying that he is effective. He's got the follow through these days, and can play the game. No. Current Avery with somewhat of a respecctable scoring touch on him? Perhaps I'd take him back. I did hate him a good bit when he was first with Los Angeles but got past that, at least for me personally. It's like just loathing people for the sake of it or because they play for a different team (i.e. Iginla, Pronger, etc.). Personal hates just seem sily to me now as I get older (and hopefully wiser). So I'd be willing to sacrafice personal feelings and be open to bringing him back on the surface, but a small part of me would be biting my tongue due to the blowing a gasket/controversy factor, which has been popular with Avery in the past. That being said though, I think he's all but happy in with the Rangers and unless he just flat out stinks up the joint, I thnk he's there for the next few seasons.
