Grittzkey 1 Report post Posted January 5, 2008 You got to pay for an autograph? When Charlie Batch was the rookie for the Lions, he came to the Muskegon Menards, He stayed for like 5 hours, and we didnt have to pay a dime.
Guest Jeremy88 Report post Posted January 5, 2008 that's so lame you have to pay for an autograph...way to respect your fans..."Oh, I won't give you my time personally unless I'm getting paid for it"
CdnWingsFanEh 2 Report post Posted January 5, 2008 I'm sure many of the players give their autographs to fans for free. (though I understand the wings do it less than other teams). Keep in mind, however, it's usually a promoter that collects the money that is paid for the autograph, not the player in these instances. The player is paid by the promoter specifically for an appearance, and then the promoter charges his own fee for what he thinks he can make...
Lady in REd 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2008 (edited) Yeah, the players are paid by the stores that have them. $10 is pretty reasonable. We have a store here called "Sport Stop" and they have Red Wings players come in every once in a while for a signing table and the price is generally $20+ You can recieve the autograph free though by puchasing a specific amount of store items, so you know it's being paid through the promotor (aka I'm sure Lilja isn't some greedy ass ). And I don't believe they get paid that much at all for autographing sessions either. Edited January 5, 2008 by Lady in REd

I'm surprised that no one has made a wise crack about most of the autograph seekers being other teams' opposing forwards. After all, they are Lilja's biggest fans...at least according to about half of LGW members.
GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted January 5, 2008 Too bad I don't live in Detroit. I'd love to get my favorite current enforcer's autograph. Oh well, I just hope one of you guys can shake his hand for me.

HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted January 5, 2008 Ya'll act like this is the first time you've ever heard having to pay for an autograph session. Most sessions are like that and I don't see a problem with it. Now if you met them outside a session and they asked for money, then I'd see a problem with it. $10 is not a lot. CdnWingsFanEh 2 Report post Posted January 6, 2008 (edited) I gotta be honest, I have no intention of getting the Pain Train's autograph, BUT, if I'm coming from out of the area, I'm willing to pay for the autograph, just to know for certain the player will be there. 10 bucks for Lilja is reasonable. Zetterberg is doing a private sigining in February, and the fee is $43-56 depending on the item. When Yzerman was doing his signings, he charged $95.00 per sig. I hate having to pay too, but that's the way it is. For those of us who don't live in Detroit and have the luxury of going to the arenas frequently for them, it's the only way we know we will be able to get one. BlueMonk 102 Report post Posted January 6, 2008 Worth mentioning is that the "fans" who are so romanticized when it comes to asking for autographs are often not even real fans. A few years ago, Brett Hull appeared on the ESPN Hot Seat and went on a rant about people who sell autographs on places like eBay. He was pretty passionate about it, looked at the camera and said something like, "You people, all of us players hate you. We hate you." I wasn't sure what he was talking about, but I assume it's about players taking time to sign something for a fan, only to find out the fan didn't really care and just wanted to make a few bucks off it. Probably even the whole league. I already have his autograph but I would still pay to get another one. Unfortunatly, I have prior commitments.
