Yzerfan1999 81 Report post Posted January 17, 2008 With all the trade talks and rumors about Hossa, Sundin, Dumont, Blake, etc., what do you want the Wings roster to look like heading into the playoffs, and why? Holmstrom, Datsyuk, Filpulla Zetterberg, Forsberg, Cleary Dumont, Hudler, Franzen Maltby, Draper, Drake Downey Lidstrom, Rafalski Kronwall, Lilja Lebda, Chelios Quincey Hasek Osgood -This means the Wings would work out a contract for Forsberg, and trade Sammuelson, Meech and a pick if necessary to Nashville for Dumont. I know people hate Forsberg, but adding him with no loss of current line-up players would be a huge advantage (If, of course he is able to even play...). A deal for Dumont would likely be harder to work out then I have made it - but I like the way the guy plays and he has pretty good playoff numbers. Then again, this makes our back end look a little weak after Lids and Rafalski. Any solutions?
edicius 3,269 Report post Posted January 17, 2008 I'd be fine with Forsberg because we wouldn't have to give up any assets to get him, thus resulting in him not being a "true" rental player. We know his skill and talent. Our Swedes especially know this. Plus, he's clutch in the postseason.

Bannedforlife 403 Report post Posted January 17, 2008 With all the trade talks and rumors about Hossa, Sundin, Dumont, Blake, etc., what do you want the Wings roster to look like heading into the playoffs, and why? I think the roster will look exactly the same as it does now, except everyone will be about 3 months older by then and sporting full-on 5 o'clock shadows. What does it look like in my dreams? Zetterberg - Sundin - Holmstrom Fillpula - Datsyuk - Cleary Hudler - Forsberg - Hossa Maltby - Draper - Franzen Downey Lidstrom - Kronwall Rafalski - Blake Chelios - Lebda Lilja Hasek Osgood Hells yea! Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted January 17, 2008 Why do you all want Dumont anyways? By all indications, he has a bad opinion of either the city of Detroit, or the Red Wings team themselves. He chose Nashville over Detroit, when Detroit offered him more money and a longer-term contract. Sounds kinda strange to me.

We would have to give up alot for Hossa, nothing but $ for Foppa, and a little for Blake/Foote. Like Ken Holland said last night on 97.1, you only get so many opportunites to make a serious run at a Championship. With Lidstrom and Hasek and Chelios, this may be our best and one of our last for awhile, so what the hell!!!

rage 24 Report post Posted January 19, 2008 Holland said that??? Oh, it's so ******* on!!! Hey Banndedforlife! Hell yes Holland said that, although I added the what the hellpart. He was asked about adding players such as Hossa and he said he wouldn't talk names, and then said something to the effect of..."You only get so many opportunites to make a serious run at a Championship and we know that..........." I added the With Lidstrom and Hasek and Chelios, this may be our best and one of our last for awhile, so what the hell!!! because that is exactly what I took from it and everyone that knows anything about the game understands this. ----------------------------------------------------------

rick zombo 3,739 Report post Posted January 24, 2008 (edited) If Holland decides to go "all-in" then I think he makes a pitch for Sundin. And (don't laugh) Hal Gill. And I'd be more than 100% fine with this line-up. I'd make a pitch for Dumont too. He's a good playoff scorer. Say bye to Sammy and Meech and maybe Hudler. Filpulla- Datsyuk - Homer Zetterberg - Sundin - Dumont Cleary - Franzen - Kopecky Maltby - Draper - Drake Lidstrom - Rafalski Kronwall - Lilja Chelios - Gill Lebda Hasek Osgood. Dabura 12,232 Report post Posted January 24, 2008 (edited) Zetterberg - Dastyuk - Holmstrom Cleary - Filppula - Hossa Maltby - Draper - Neil Kopecky - Franzen - Downey Lidstrom - Kubina Kronwall - Rafalski Lilja - Chelios Hossa for the top-6 scoring punch. Neil for the balls and muscle. Kubina for the big, physical, stay-at-home presence in the top-4. Edited January 24, 2008 by Dabura

Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted January 30, 2008 I've seen Kubina's name come up a couple times now on here... he's big but he's not physical at all, or a stay at home D man Hah, tell me about it. Kubina plays like a pillow, yet everyone throws his name around as the "big tough defenseman the Wings need". He's about as tough as Lebda, if that's any indication. Besides that, Kubina is under contract for a while I believe, and makes a lot of money. No sense handcuffing the team for years down the road with an overpaid sponge like him. He's slower then Lilja and makes more mistakes, he's as physical as Schnieder and costs about as much as Rafalski. Plus, he takes way too many penalties, and I dont really like face washers and that's all he is. lol @ your playing like a pillow comment

Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted February 1, 2008 I would like to see one trade with the Kings to aquire two players. How about a first rounder, a second rounder, Meech, Quincey, and Grigorenko for Camallari, Blake, and maybe a fourth or fifth round pick. I think we need to make room for young dmen coming up, and I don't feel like forfiting any offensive depth right now.

You're crazy if you think lame ass players like Meech and Grigorenko are going to be any sort of selling point for other teams. Almost every team has their own Derek Meech (small, non physical, offensive minded defenseman) type players, so that's not going to a big drawing name at all. If you want both Blake and Cammalleri at the same time, you better be prepared to shell players with actual value, like Hudler, Filppula, Kindl, Quincey, Helm, Howard, and a variety of others. Maybe not all of them, but certainly a good few.
