Yzerfan1999 81 Report post Posted January 22, 2008 http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=227917&hubname= Malkin will replace Crosby, Thomas replaces Brodeur. Niedermeyer, Perry, and Riberio replace Stastny, Zetterberg, and Zubov. The fact that Scott Niedermeyer is playing in the All-Star game after missing half of the season makes me sick. Sorry if this is double - don't see it yet though.

shannyfan1414 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2008 That really sucks that Z will miss his second All-Star game. I was looking forward to seeing him out there with the rest of the Wings on the squad. I have to agree that Niedermeyer has not business playing in this game. If he was a real man he would say thanks but no thanks. We already know he is not a real man. Look how long he strung along the ducks on his retirement. Thats a bunch of CRAP.
Yzerfan1999 81 Report post Posted January 22, 2008 Isn't it insane? How does a guy who has played 17 games get to go over players like Zidlicky, Souray, Burns, Blake, etc. Even Kronwall should be there before Niedermeyer goes. Unfair.
akustyk 84 Report post Posted January 22, 2008 :puke: this dirty red-head Perry in All-Star Game. jeez... how low it got when all NHL real stars jump off this stupid event

How does a guy who has played 17 games get to go over players like Zidlicky, Souray, Burns, Blake, etc. Even Kronwall should be there before Niedermeyer goes. Unfair. I was right, the ASG is a joke with the NHL angling to add 4 Ducks to the roster, come Hell or high water. I feel bad for anyone who planned the weekend and paid $$ to see their favorites, as I have to believe the guys who've dropped out are a bigger draw than the ones replacing them. Tim Thomas over Martin Brodeur? Wow.
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted January 22, 2008 Seriously...how the f*** does Niedermayer get to go? Thats freaking ridiculous. Is Rafalski going???? HELLLLLLLOOOOOO Idiots. ******* idiots.
Yzerfan1999 81 Report post Posted January 22, 2008 No Kidding. I didn't even mention Rafalski, the 2nd leading scorer among D-men in the whole NHL. idiots.
Rice 42 Report post Posted January 22, 2008 It's too bad he's not going. Oh well, at least he'll get to rest the back and whatever else is hurting. I'd rather have him as healthy as possible for the stretch run than participate in a meaningless game.

Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted January 22, 2008 Perry doesnt deserve to go. This just shows the NHL is a buisness. They are trying to get Stanley Cup Champions in the all star game and it's a joke. Niedermayer???? I love Scotty, but he is not an all star based on his stats. I'll really start to hate the guy if he doesnt turn it down, yes he should turn it down. He should know that he isnt an all-star this year. I believe Mats Sundin should be there over Malkin, but thats just me. But way to go NHL, you wonder why you have trouble with attendance
Still MIGHTY 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2008 (edited) I sense some sour grapes in the crowd Honestly, Perry deserves it. He's 22 years old and is 8th in the league in goals. His success is linked to Getzlaf and vice versa. Much like Kariya and Selanne of the old Mighty Ducks. They need to be in it together. As for Niedermayer, I'm happy another Duck is in, but like you guys, I agree that there are more deserving candidates out there. Reds4Life 51 Report post Posted January 22, 2008 That is a complete joke. Niedermayer and Perry? LOL. But I am quite happy Z will have some rest and his back will get better. So he is gonna miss Kings and Ducks games too right? Damn
Opie 308 Report post Posted January 22, 2008 This makes me worry about Nick and what should be (based on what has been played so far) Norris, if they are willing to give him an ASG based on last year (that is the only thing I can see them basing it on) why not a Norris that he didn't when last year! This is horrible, I mean I am glad Ralf will get some rest but he has had a much better season than Neids, just based on numbers, gp, whatever this just annoying
toby91_ca 620 Report post Posted January 22, 2008 I'm surprised there is so much emotion on who makes the allstar game and who doesn't, it really doesn't mean anything. In terms of Niedermayer making the team, I don't get too fussed about it. I can see the reason for complaining, but I will look at it from a slightly different angle. If we were talking about winning a major award, I think you factor in the fact that he wasn't around for much of the season, but when it comes to the allstar game, don't you want the best players there? He is one of the best defensemen in the league, so it's tough to argue.

Saran 1 Report post Posted January 22, 2008 Neidermeyer has played 17 games and decided to not play the first half of the season. The all-star game should represent the all-stars of the 2007-2008 season. Just the fact that Niedermeyer is an elite defenseman shouldn't allow him to make the all-star game. It should be the all-stars of the season, there are so many defensemen out there with more games played and a lot more points and +/- rating. Completely stupid, I hope someone on the TSN panel agrees and brings it up. Finally, I hope with Niedermeyer getting accepted to the all-star game, this doesn't make a candidate in the competition for the Norris this year. P.S. No Zetterberg sucks His back is scaring me. No, he was one of the best D-men in the league last year, this year he is a player who has played 17 games while a player who is the second D-man in points is not in the game. I am happy Ralf can rest, don't get me wrong, but this is not the best players this year, this is one of the best players last year. ASG are year by year assesment, this isn't like the hall where you say well over the past x years he has been good. It is a what have you done for me lately status.
