man What a game.. I mean ... I was looking forward to this one and this one didn't disappoint at all.

Everyone played well last night

I always believed that Filp would shine in faster paced, high intensity game and he had a very good game last night.

Kopecky was everything we could ask him to be, a force. I think he needs more of playoff experience to really find his game and excel.

Huds didn't flat out shine last night but I think he is still maturing as a hockey player. After our playoff run this year, he will be back with more determination and experience under his belt. (hopefuly it will be a championship experience)

Ellis was great. He is like a heavy duty truck in our sports car laden lineup. We really could use more of this type of player.

There was a reason to do it well last night and they delivered.

But ducks will be ready for us next time.

I think "The Kids" had a pretty good night last evening and I was happy to see Flipper get the game winner.

Hey

I'm sorry if I rubbed some of you guys the wrong way earlier. I was just having a little fun with some opposing fans in pre-game. We all do it. Also, I just really hate hearing that old Disney-joke re-run in any forum I'm on when I talk about the Ducks. I respect the Wings. I do. You're a great team with a great history that the Ducks are no where near at this point. It happens when you have 75 years more experience at this thing. I've just never taken the Ducks as a joke. I'm turning 18 on February 9th (and I'll be in Detroit for the game on the 10th) and the Ducks have really been the only team I've known in my life. I've been going to games since I was 3 years old. This team is a huge part of my life. We've had season tix every year the Ducks have been in existence. Thats why I feel so much for this team. And the series we've had with the Wings recently and overall have made me grow a sort of passion against your Wings. But thats good. I love a good, mean-spirited rivalry. I'm sorry if I bleed Orange/Black/Gold (or Jade/Eggplant/Gray) but its just me. I love this team with all my soul. So most trash talk I can take. The we're goons crap or Pronger's gap or any of that. But the whole Disney/cartoon thing. Thats been long over. I am a Duck! and damn proud of it....

All that aside now. The game.

I was there and my god it was intense. That was probably the best 1st period we've played all year. Bertuzzi getting into it early and Pronger beatin the ever-livin' out of Cleary (did he ever come back by the way? I wasnt looking for him). Tough and hard fought all around. If not for a few dumb penalties by the Ducks and that broken stick by Beauchemin, it's 0-0 in OT where its all up to the hockey gods and how they determine the game be won. I wouldve gladly taken that hard-earned point and the tie for 1st in the Division. That said, I was really impressed with Detroit and the way we played against you. Great puck movement, control and speed.

But in my personal opinion, If we were to meet in the playoffs in a best of 7, I think the Ducks size and strength and determination would eventually wear down on the Wings. It would probably be similar to the Western Finals last year. Either team in 6 or 7. But over a long series, I give the advantage to the Ducks.

Overall great game. See you in February at the Joe.

Go Ducks!

thanks cool but bertuzzi getting into it early if you mean running hasek then i guess you are right. i don't really think you have a chance this year my friend. even in the playoffs. yea you could win if you take out most all of our players but as far as playing the game. we are up on you...way up on you. i mean come on...the team that has the most PIM out of all of the other teams that shows you how they win. have your team play hockey and then see how it goes. im sorry to say but we wings fans seen it different. we seen a team of goons coming out trying to goon it up which they did but the wings gave it right back. yeah you probably won both fights but what happened to everyone saying the wings are a wimp team with no one taking up for anyone on the team.....yeah...we are the real deal this year mr mighty...watch out in the playoffs. we are coming and we are

FIRE ON ICE!!!!! hahahahahahahahahahahaha

i had to put that in there.

Thing's we learned tonight

- Pronger takes fight lessons from Hannah Montana

- Kopecky showed his worth, Even getting some PP time as well.

- Sammy can play good every once in awhile also.

- Lilja stole Harry Potters invisibility cloak

- Ducks can drink all the red bull they want, But they will never get wings.

He was too busy being sound defensively, but you won't hear any accolades for him around here. He did stand Bertuzzi up at the blue line one time and had a couple of other hits.

Cheers to Invisible Lilly!

Southern California needs more fans like you. Trust me, I know. I lived there for 14 years.

Stopping the mad flurries when the game was on the line, with his head or whatever he had handy, made more of an impact than Dats' assist. Sorry. I got the Anaheim feed, so I don't know what Daniels embellished or not. I know how well Dom played, however.

But, I understand there are those here who think Dom never deserves a star, regardless of how well he plays. He really can't win for losing with some people, which is a real shame. Mostly, you get your way and he doesn't get recognized, so be happy and move on.

edit: I would have given Kronner one over Dats and certainly over Pronger... pretty much anyone, besides him, actually.

See you are focusing on ONE thing Datsyuk did. Did you catch his non-stop backchecking and forechecking? How many takeaways did he have? Watch him without the puck. Same with Flip. They were both monsters out there and imo more deserving.

So all the headlines on tsn.ca and espn.com stating that Hasek lead the Wings to a victory ISN'T RECOGNITION? Just because he didn't get a star doesn't mean people don't know that he came up big.

I would def. give Kronner one over Pronger.

He got gouged in the fricken eye...no wonder.

It was a much closer fight than you saw from your vantage point. He most definitely did not get effed up. Unless you're counting Fronger's finger nails.

I heard that when they went down the first time Cleary decided to face plant the ice as well. Which I am sure did not help the gouge.

hm... nice. Thanks

I was in the stands.

From my vantage point, It looked like he beat the ever-livin' hell out of him.

I havent seen the replay yet. either way.

There was blood. and swelling. and purple

Cleary got effed up.

I'm just curious, does Pronger fight people who are usually a lot smaller than him?

aside from Zdeno Chara, pretty much everybody IS smaller (well, shorter anyway) than Prissy.

He can't help it that he's tall, as you recall. It makes him do bad things to other players. :hehe:

BTW, I thought Scheider was going to get Homer last night. I musta missed it. :sly:

I think I've seen Progner fight about 4 times (including last night) since he's been here. One against Pittsburgh and Dallas last year, and LA and Detroit this year. The Pitt one was someone was hitting kunitz while he was down and Pronger came flying in with an uppercut and took out the guy. Dallas was pretty evenly matched size wise, which Prongs won. LA was against Handzus because he shot the puck at Jiggy like 3 secs after the whistle (that added a little fuel to the budding fire of the rivalry) and then against Cleary.

But of all the fights I believe Cleary was the only guys demonstratively shorter than Prongs. Everyone else was about his size... and its not like Pronger singled Cleary out. He agreed to fight him so, I don't think its too fair to put in all on Prongs.

I was looking at the NHL website and they were saying Pronger only weighs 213 lbs. Cleary is listed at 210. I don't know if I could really believe that.

Went to the game last night at the pond... err the honda center. Been a wing fan since I can remember (father from the big D), been a duck hater since they spawned in '93. Just gotta say last night was great. It was even greater getting to say a big "f**K you" to all those pathetic duck fans who have just recently jumped on their bandwagon. I guess myself, like many other NHL fans are still in shock that the ducks actually have won the stanley cup. But hey, anyone can win if you have a gap toothed cheap hitting pronger to lead your defense.

But the game was good. We got to see amazing finesse plays and tape to tape passes by the wings, and morons in dark jerseys skating around trying to bully better players. Oh and watching Bertuzzi miss a pass that was coming right to him while hasek was on the other side of the net was just tooooo good.

Can't wait to play the ducks in the playoffs.

im so proud of the Wings after this one.

the team as a whole. cleary sticks up for himself against goon #1, kopay made some plays and generally played hard.

Dom really help it together. detroit wasnt man - handled by the Ducks they answer every bell to the physical play

good stuff Wings!

Oh no Kunitz my god, and that sounds about right cheap shotting someone.

Trying to fight Handzus, wow Pronger really is tough <_<

I was just glad Pronger actually squared off with someone, I mean for him that's progress. He normally comes in late, grabs guys and starts punching before the dude even knows what's going on.

You mean whenever "Prongs" is not running other players into the glass face first, hitting them from behind? I don't care if you are too tall, that was disgusting what he did to Homer. It was more disgusting that All Star Neidermayer helped and only one of them got suspended for it.

Or did you mean when he's not trying to take out a player with a chronic knee injury in the playoffs (v. St. Louis)? Oh, wait, that one didn't exactly work on Stevie Y., did it? I don't wish an injury on any player, ever, but the hockey kharma police were watching that day, I think. :sly:

The funny part of both situations is that the Red Wings players he tried to destroy in both instances came right back to play or weren't hurt at all, in Stevie's case.

I have disliked Pronger for quite some time, it has nothing to do with the Ducks at all, in my case. <_<
