rage 24 Report post Posted January 25, 2008 How worried would you guys become if Vancouver traded for Mats Sundin and added Foresberg and possible another small deal as well?? I have heard of Mats possibliy going to Vancouver, and it makes sense the Nucks need more scoring. Also, Foresberg has ties with Naslund as well. Now I know that most of you wouldn't consider Forsberg's possible comeback as a cause for concern, but for arguments sake, lets say he comes back pretty stong. I am not sure how the roster would look, or who they'd give up in these deals, but I do know they have Roberto Luongo back there, so.... Having a top 6 of... Markus Naslund Mats Sundin Peter Forsberg Henrik Sedin Daniel Sedin Brendan Morrison (IR for 3 months) could be a pretty strong line-up. Anyway, just somehting to think/chat about heading into the all-star break.

GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted January 25, 2008 That would suck. With Luongo in net, they'd be tough to beat even if they don't make any other additions. Hell if Edmonton made the finals a few years ago riding a hot Dwayne Roloson, imagine what a hot Luongo might do. However, they'd probably have to give up a lot to get Sundin, so that lineup might look different.

rage 24 Report post Posted January 25, 2008 Vancouver scares the hell out of me with just Luongo there. I know!! That Dallas/Vancouver series was awesome. Luongo is scary good, and he proved he can show you something in the playoffs. Better they go to Vancouver rather than the Ducks. Well that pretty much can't happen with their salary this year, but I hear ya.
RedFX 48 Report post Posted January 25, 2008 It would certainly give them some depth. Naslund has really suffered without Morrison. Forsberg would be a great playmaker to compliment him until he gets back. Plus, Foppa can be used both as a Center and a Wing, so they can put Sundin on that top-line if they get him as well. interminded 1 Report post Posted January 25, 2008 Luongo - Top 3 in the league, arguably the best in the league. Forsberg - has been seriously injured for 8 months... let's not overestimate his possible impact (on any team) Sundin - great player, but without the supporting players he'll be in the same situation as he is now in Toronto. Naslund - hasn't impressed anyone since the lockout Sedin Twins - Combined with Sundin they make ONE decent line Morrison - ever before he went on IR, he wasn't very impressive. Even if this unlikely scenario would occur, I don't think they would be able to make it past the first round in the playoffs.

Forsberg would be a great playmaker to compliment him until he gets back. Plus, Foppa can be used both as a Center and a Wing, so they can put Sundin on that top-line if they get him as well. Naslund has played on every possible line this year and struggled..he's so invisible out there almost every night it's scary. Morrison's injury is not the reason he's struggled. Neither of them has really done squat since Bertuzzi's big year when he was on his game and clearing out space for both of them. We all know what happened with Bert and we just won't go there. Nazzy played with the Sedin's for a large chunk of the year and still couldn't consistently put the puck in the net. If Nonis could find a legitimate right handed sniper to play with the Sedin's it would be the 2nd best line in the league because those two mutant twins can control the offensive end at will some nights!! As true as that may be, imagine Naslund, Sundin, and Foppa on a line together!! Powerplay?? Playoffs?? Luongo?? Bertuzzi isn't coming back there, but ya know what....they may be better without him. With the cap space and whatnot, this isn't impossible to imagine. I would hate to think how it would be if Naslund started performing the way Alfredsson is right now. Especially if it was in the playoffs with Luongo backing them up......oh man.....that's scary!! Just MY OPIONON!!
lets go pavel 2 Report post Posted January 25, 2008 well, if they all show up AND return to their prime form then sure they'd be scary ... but what are the chances of that? forsberg doesn't worry me - it's why i don't really care to see him here, i think he's too banged up to be a factor ... so really all we're talking about is sundin, and while he'll help i don't think that just the addition of sundin makes them a team to fear ... that said, luongo could steal a playoff series all by himself if he gets on a roll ... lfd250 1 Report post Posted January 25, 2008 You're counting on Forsberg to be the player that he WAS not is. Vancouver is fighting for a playoff spot. The leafs want BIG for Sudin so who are they going to have to give up? The coach just called out Luongo in the press so now there's stress and lines are being drawn in the lockeroom. Not worried at all.
