Mudvayneowns91 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2008 Awww too bad - hope he gets better soon. He's finally coming out as a potential top-pair defenseman. Finally someone who isn't like "i'm suprised it didn't happen sooner" or something rude like that. Get better quick Kronner!
Learn2LuvIt 246 Report post Posted January 31, 2008 I really hate to say this cause I'm a big Kronner fan....He may be trade bait next season due to his track record with injuries. I realize it looks like this time around it's not a major, major injury...but it is the sum total of his injuries that makes him a liability. In addition, I think he needs to really work hard and focus on his body positioning (especially on the boards...not just saying that cause of last night, has always been my observation). He seems to leave himself very vulnarable. I hope he recovers and has a huge impact in the playoffs....however, barring a consistent Nick Lids type peformances night-in, night-out in the playoffs, I still think Kenny would be willing to part with him next season for the right deal. Holland doesn't trade players he signs to 5 year deals. Holland knew his injury history before he signed him, Kronwall turned a huge corner this year, he won't be traded, ever. 40#1Fan 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2008 from the Detroit News: DETROIT -- Defenseman Niklas Kronwall will miss about two weeks with a collarbone injury suffered in Wednesday's game against Phoenix. Kronwall was hit into the boards by Phoenix forward Craig Weller in the third period and missed the rest of the game. Tests after the game revealed no fractures, but Kronwall said there was an area that was sprained. "There's no separation and nothing is broken, which is good news," Kronwall said. "The way it felt right away, I felt it could be a lot worse. But it's obviously not a big deal and we have to deal with it and move on." Kronwall was working out Thursday while the Wings practiced and said he'll know more about the timeline to getting back on the ice this weekend. "We'll see how it feels the next couple of days," Kronwall said. The Wings received positive news on defenseman Brett Lebda, who missed Wednesday's game with a sore left wrist. Tests revealed no problems, and Lebda said the wrist gave him no pain during Thursday's practice. With Lebda healthy, and Derek Meech replacing Kronwall in the lineup, coach Mike Babcock said the Wings will not add any player from Grand Rapids.
WhiteLightning91 105 Report post Posted January 31, 2008 (edited) I was actually looking forward to seeing Quincey or Ericsson coming up and playing a few games in Kronnic's place. Hopefully Lebda has completely recovered from his wrist injury. With the type of cushion we have in the conference standings, I think they should, if anything, give him an extra day or so to make sure it is fully healed. Then again, we do have one of the most cautious medical staffs in the game so I will trust their judgment. EDIT: Wings coach Mike Babcock said the team won't recall anybody from Grand Rapids, but said he's been told if a defenseman is eventually needed from the minors, it'll be Kyle Quincey first and Jonathan Ericsson second, in the pecking order -- MLive Edited January 31, 2008 by WhiteLightning91
Elshupacabra 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2008 (edited) It's notable that this is his first upper body injury. All the previous injuries have been lower body, I believe. He did almost have his nose cut off last year, I don't remember how much time he missed with that though. Edited January 31, 2008 by Elshupacabra

NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted January 31, 2008 http://redwingscorner.blogspot.com/2008/01...r-kronwall.html Week to 10 days, no call up needed. Huge relief! That being said, this shows how badly Kenny needs to make a move for a defenseman next month.
Learn2LuvIt 246 Report post Posted January 31, 2008 (edited) Holland doesn't trade players he signs to 5 year deals. Holland knew his injury history before he signed him, Kronwall turned a huge corner this year, he won't be traded, ever. EVER!! That is a very bold prediction. IMO, in today's NHL... not a well thought out one either.(no offense). Up to this point you are correct...Holland really doesn't have a track record for doing this. However, if a player is making 3 Mil a year, very frequently injured (like Kronner), and talented (when healthy...I stress when) he's definitely not Non-Tradable. As smart as Kenny is, do you think he's going to pay a guy 3 Mil to sit in the trainers room 1-3 months every season. Yes, his re-signing Kronner was a vote of confidence and looking toward the future and his potential (when healthy..again I stress when). But, even Kronner has said this in interviews, there is a lot of pressure and focus on him staying healthy this year, which he admitted, he has yet to be able to do. Last night is another example of why there is so much pressure and focus on this with him. Kenny may be loyal, and very thoughtful toward the big picture/future of the organization when re-signig players....but he's not stupid and savvy enough to realize "things aren't as we'd hoped, and time to cut bait." The annual expectations of this organization are too high (in addition to the salary cap factor) to wait for a 3Mil dollar player to finally shake the serious injury bug that has riddled him his whole career thus far. Bottom line: I hope he stays a Wing a long time, but he definitely making himself more and more expendable to Wings management. I would say that would be an upper body injury. Edited January 31, 2008 by wingnut22

Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted January 31, 2008 Give Meech another conditioning stint and bring up Quincey. While Meech looked pretty good last night, I'd rather see Quincey playing.
