babygorilla 1 Report post Posted February 9, 2008 I can't believe that I have come across several sites that have had Lang as a potetial deadline move to sevearl different teams, one being Detroit. This is without question sites, and fans that do not know what happened here in Detroit, and how the fans felt about his tenure. Langer has had a pretty good year considering the young team he is anchoring. What do you think about the talk, and do you think it is as crazy and unreal as I think it is? J-Swift 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2008 ^^ I thought the same about D-mac and looky looky I think the chances of D-Mac donning the Wings jersey again are still very slim, but McCarty was actually well-liked by the fans and seemed to really enjoy playing here. Guest Crymson Report post Posted February 9, 2008 No matter which way you slice it without bobert last year we would have gone out to San Jose! If we'd had a different second-line center, one who actually had worked hard and scored like a second-line center should, then we'd likely have not needed a clutch goal at that point. Ahh yes, so even when Lang scores the clutch goal, it's still his fault he had to. And more to the point of the topic, there's now way Lang is coming back here. I'm not surprised teams would be interested in a big center who will be good for probably 20 goals and 50 points, and tends to score big goals in the playoffs. But I can't believe someone would want to pay $4 mill for him next season.
SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted February 9, 2008 (edited) There's a good chance Lang won't be back in Detroit. Strong gut feeling. SouthernWingsFan 10 (in honor of Eklund ) EDIT: Seriously, Lang did score some big goals for the Wings, but it was kinda easy to tell I think as last season went on, he and Coach Babcock or the organization just didn't see things eye-to-eye in my opinion. I certainly wouldn't have minded having him back at a reduced price, but he definitely didn't live up to his $3.8M tag OVERALL (again I realize he scored some big ones for us). Sevumar 0 Report post Posted February 10, 2008 After today, does anyone suspect we might be seeing Hudler move back into Lang's basement anytime soon?
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted February 10, 2008 Holland contacted Lang's agent, Petr Svoboda, last summer and told him the Wings weren't going to offer Lang a contract. If the Wings didn't want Lang at that point, then why would they all of a sudden now want him back now, and have to give up valuable assets for him? It doesn't make any sense at all. I don't think he'll be back, and hopefully, he isn't. Lang may have scored some critical goals for the Wings, but he still didn't live up to the potential that he should have.
