LidsFan 68 Report post Posted February 11, 2008 I love Downey, he will go at it with anyone, no matter how much bigger they are and give it his all. We need more like him on the team.

LeftWinger 4,962 Report post Posted February 11, 2008 ...some they this Parros cat is the closet thing to a heavy weight in the NHL? He looked like he was trying to hold on for dear life after Downey clocked him twice... ...Who needs McCarty? Downey has found a home and I hope the Wings re-sign him over the summer... Hatchet Barry 71 Report post Posted February 11, 2008 Downey's one tough SOB. He may not be the tallest fighter but he can go with the best of them. Way to go Downey, keep it up!
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted February 11, 2008 Yeah, not one of Parros better outings. He looked like Ivanans there, hugging Downey hoping he wouldnt throw a punch, WHOOOOOOPS.

I dont feel Parros is a top 10'er, but it was still a nice upset given the way it was all Downey and Parros just looked lost out there. I think Downey has done his job well, but i'd still much prefer to see a legit heavy like a McGrattan in his place next year.

Lou_Siffer 1 Report post Posted February 11, 2008 Or... Drake retires, Downey re-signs and we get McGrattan. Then we're all extra happy Oh hell yeah...for sure! But we gotta remember this is still the Red Wings we're talking about, they'd never carry two enforcers like that, i consider us lucky to even have Downey! McGrattan's probably a pipe dream though, they wouldnt want somebody like him who's out there looking for a fight every game. They'd consider him too much of a loose cannon i bet. kylee 727 Report post Posted February 11, 2008 (edited) the entire time the fight was going on i thought Parros looked like one of the super mario brothers gettin ready to square off. it was great. Edited February 11, 2008 by kylee
shannyfan1414 0 Report post Posted February 11, 2008 God I love Downey!!! I really hope that he is in line up for us during the playoffs. I still think that we need him to be out there to make sure that we have a guy that will protect our star players. Keep it up Downey!!
Guest Hatethedrake! Report post Posted February 11, 2008 the entire time the fight was going on i thought Parros looked like one of the super mario brothers gettin ready to square off. it was great. Parros looks like a 70's porn star. They should play "Sister Christian" each time he fights. Downey has done very well as an enforcer this season. I'd love McGratton of course but the Sens will likely keep him. I don't know how Parros is even in the NHL though because he has virtually NO game at all. Even though the Wings were clearly ripped off today I was happy to see Downey land a few hard shots to Parros' head. However I doubt they hurt. His head is so big you could land a plane on it. While Dallas Drake is totally useless, Aaron Downey has earned a spot on the roster for next season. He knows what he is there for and he does it. Unlike Drake who just picks his nose out there and looks his age.

I don't see how he could hurt the team being on the 4th line. However all of us know that he will be sitting in the press box and be a black ace come playoff time. However with the injuries starting to pile up recently, Downey could see some time on the 1st line! LOL

As I can see by your name you probably aren't going to agree with me, but just for the record, Drake earned the jersey he was wearing tonight more than Sammuelson did. EuroTwinLove40 0 Report post Posted February 11, 2008 I freaking LOVE Downey!! I love what he said yesterday in his interview - he's one of the old throw-backs in the league, just plays blue collar hockey and does what he's gotta do.
redwingslady87 130 Report post Posted February 11, 2008 anyone listening to 97.1 the ticket and hear them talking about an interview with downey where he is describing how he wants you to feel when you're in a fight with him?? "I want you to feel like you're in a coffin, feel like you're suffucating"? I want to use it in its entirety for part of my sig, but i can't find it anywhere. To be honest, I think they both had encouraging nights tonight. I thought Sammy did some pretty good things against the Leafs a few nights ago.
