Laraque fight

Laraque is a really good guy too. My brother has this friend who is a Oiler fan and he somehow found Laraque on the internet. He then asked if he could meet before or after the game when the Oilers came to Colorado. Laraque not only obliged, but he signed the friend's Oiler jersey, gave him a few pucks and introduced them to a few other Oiler players. The guy could of just as easily said piss off, but instead was a very good ambassador for the game.

That is a pretty cool story.

Seems like you hear about players doing stuff like that more in the NHL then in any other sport. Seems like so many of the NHL guys are just class acts for the most part. I know that there are some scum bags in the sport, Roy, but for the most part they all seem to be great people who enjoy inert-acting with the fans.

Have yet to watch the video since i should be study and not checking out LGW. If i end up in youtube i'm done for the night.

Yeah, I totally agree. Hockey players are usually pretty classy whether it's dressing nice, treating fans well, or just being good people. I was rather shocked to hear about the two players from the Habs that got arrested, but thank God that kinda stuff doesn't happen often. Although... compared to all the other sports where people are frequently getting arrested or doing drugs, I don't think it's that big of a deal.

I hate seeing s*** like that. You'd never see Dave Brown or Bob Probert act so gentlemanly before a fight. Why didn't Laraque just take his glove off and slap Ivanans like he was challenging him to an 18th century duel while he was at it?

Unless it was a particularly spirited rivalry, Probie wasn't a dick to people. I recall him patting Marty McSorely on the head after their epic bout, and he wasn't one to throw punches once his opponent was down, either. There's a lot of stuff that goes on for the average fighter. A guy like Laraque or Probert doesn't have to oblige his opponent, and they turn down just as many challenges as they take. Probert was usually kind enough to fight the rooks, he didn't get full of himself, and he never pulled a Tootoo sucker punching anyone before the gloves were off. Enforcers aren't mean unless they have to be, although there are a few exceptions.

And at any rate, what the hell did you expect him to do? Drop them before the puck dropped and get booted for the game?

"Good luck,"

Even at its most violent, hockey is so polite! Like, I believe the other night, I want to say against LA, Fil or Homer accidentally ran into the goalie or fell in front of the net after a minor scrum, and whoever the Wing was either patted the goalie on the head or the goalie gave him a little tap.

Love it.
