55fan 5,133 Report post Posted February 16, 2008 I was browsing the General list of topics and I read the title of this one, was distracted, looked down and saw another topic title. It read "Let's trade Samuelsson for......Steroids, the NHL and Congress." I thought to myself that this would be a great trade, but how would we get the cap space to pay congressional salaries? Then I decided we could just not extend their contracts and no one would notice. Not that we would use the steroids, of course. That would be wrong.
Wildwings44 5 Report post Posted February 16, 2008 Brad Norton - he'd bring more to the table than sammy. What a piece of crap sammy is. Almost everytime he touches the puck he makes an error.

Lou_Siffer 1 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 Lou_Siffer and F.Michael, you are prime grade. Those were choice posts, and I were hitting the sauce, I'd give you a pat on the buns. Keep up the delicious posts, you hams. You're out of my league. Im sure Lang would also desire to be on a team with both Zdeno Chara and Erik Cole on it....afterall if all this grilling is gonna be going on, he's going to need chara-cole. ( that ones definitely not grade A!)
KrazyGangsta 79 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 Lets trade him for Ryder or Stolll. Kenny could do it Dont get me wrong i dont like samy ... but he is a big body ... I would much rather trade hudler for ryder to get bigger ... but all depending if hudler could be used to acquire another player that's more talented

Guest Crymson Report post Posted February 17, 2008 Brad Norton - he'd bring more to the table than sammy. What a piece of crap sammy is. Almost everytime he touches the puck he makes an error. This is hyperbole on the highest order. Sammy is not a liability. He does not give away the puck in the offensive zone or in the defensive zone. He DOES having scoring capability, and he is a decent passer. He is defensively aware. &c. Norton cannot fight, skate or score, or even shoot well for that matter. I can understand it if you dislike Samuelsson, but taking it to this level is beyond absurd.

Guest Crymson Report post Posted February 17, 2008 Ha, I take it you've never seen him play... Does he make passes in the offensive zone that get intercepted? Sure. In the defensive zone? No. Does he make terrible giveaways? No. I watch every game. Thanks.
Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 Does he make passes in the offensive zone that get intercepted? Sure. In the defensive zone? No. Does he make terrible giveaways? No. I watch every game. Thanks. Perhaps you missed the final minute of the Columbus game, in which Sammy had a mile wide shooting lane and was 20 feet in front of Leclare. He wound up for a slapper, changed his mind, and tried to deke an invisible defenseman before landing on his ass and losing the puck, resulting in a 2 on 1 for the Jackets. FinRedWing 172 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 From the last GDT: That was just hilarious. Sammy always shoots when there's no chance of the puck hitting the net. And, when he finally gets a chance to shoot when its just him and the goalie, he screws it up and loses the puck, resulting in a 2 on 1 for the opposition. Sammy ends the game with a classic Sammy maneuver. Sweet. OH MY GOD SAMMY!! randomly spinning in circles...yeahhh that's gonna lead to a breakaway. NICE! Thanks. Shooting the puck into the opposing Defense' skates at every possible opportunity might as well be a giveaway...not that I disagree with you on the Norton comparison, that's a little much

I don't disagree, I saw that debacle as well. However, to be fair, did it really matter at that point? Had the Wings been within a goal of tying, I would have been pissed. Maybe even if they had been down by two. But they were down by four goals with like a minute to go. Given the circumstances, I just laughed. That play was par for the course for that game, not just for Sammy, but for the Wings in general.

miller76 463 Report post Posted February 18, 2008 (edited) That's a pretty snotty thing to say. I have read all of your responses trying to defend Samuelson here. I watch every game as well. Sammy may be the butt of all of our jokes, but the truth is, he is not performing to the standards of what the Redwings and their fans expect out of a goal scorer. Him and Hudler look like scared twins out there. They look as if they have no confidence and no drive. Samuelson is absolutely a liability as well as Lilja. I think KH has Sammy and a few others that are not performing on his little list of players he's willing to trade. The truth is the there is no secondary scoring right now. Where is Sammy, Kopecky, Hudler, Filpulla???? Edited February 18, 2008 by miller76
kylee 727 Report post Posted February 18, 2008 miller76, i second your plea, WHERE IS THE SECONDARY SCORERS!?!?! it's all always worse when you lose 6 in a row. when it rains, it pours.
RedFX 48 Report post Posted February 18, 2008 There was alot of people (including the DetNews) saying we shouldn't do anything on the deadline. Based on these past couple weeks, I don't think we have any other choice but to make a big trade.
