How healthy is Hank?

in watching the last few games he doesn't seem to be skating as well as usual, not throwing the body around as much, he doesn't seem as strong on his skates and he's getting knocked off the puck quite a bit more ... i was wondering how much of this could be due to his bad back? we know he skipped the all-star weekend to rest it, but has anyone heard anything since about his back is holding up?

by the look of it, not very healthy.. he has been stinking it up lately... if he asks for any more then 7mil when his contract is up I would let him walk... this guy is like Forsberg Jr, but every time i say that Datsyuk is our most valuable forward, i get blasted..

yeah i hope management and zetterberg both realize that his injury situation NEEDS to play a major role in the size of his next contract. if not there will be major problems for us

Wha...? Are you serious? These fairweather fans who jump ship after the first sign of trouble are really starting to get to me. Zetterberg has proven to be one of the Top 3 on this team (Dats, Lidstrom, and Hank). Letting him walk because once in a while his back acts up is ridiculous. The good that comes with him far outweighs not having him for maybe two weeks out out of a season.

are you referring to the forsberg who won 2 cups, 2 world championships, 2 olympic gold medals, and is headed to the hall of fame? hell, if that's all he's gonna do we should definitely him walk ...

Lately all the Wings have been like that but don't be surprised if Zetterberg sits the last 3- 5 games before the playoffs to give his back a rest. You would have to be out of your mind to let Zetterberg so called "walk" .

The last part is debatable, but nobody is letting Zetterberg walk, so I hate to ruin your day.

There is no way you can let him walk.Whatever he wants!

I think letting Hank go would be like if 10 years ago we said "Ya know Stevie with your bad knee always acting up we don't think you could get us a cup. Thanks for trying but see ya." It would be the stupidest thing to do. I do however think Datsyuk is a better player than Hank.

I'm so sick of all these dumb fairweather fans who freak out when we lose or play poorly.

The whole team has played poorly...Z has been stuck with Samuelsson...and still he has 5 points in 5 games during the losing streak. I think he is playing just fine.

I agree. right now the entire team is in a massive slump. Hopefully they all get out of it and all start playing better.

I think he is fine. Though, I do think he is pissed off about being put on a line with Sammy. Sammy just makes bad decisions, and screws it up for everyone on the ice. Hank, he is just fine. I think he is going through a down time right now. I believe he, and Datsyuk will show up today during the Stars game. Zetterburg and Datsyuk always show up for the big games. I don't think there is anything to worry about.

If we actually had secondary scoring. The Z-D-H line would probably be together and holding a good pace. But no Cleary, and the poor excuse for a secondary liner who doesn't even need to be named is going to cause problems. Plus, I see Filppula fighting a real confidence battle right now.

Heh- yeah. :) If Hank ends up being as productive for us as Forsberg was for the Aves I think we say he was a damn good pick!

Hank will be a wing, wonky back or not.

Don't forget- Thornton had a bad back a few years ago- with injury trouble just like Hank's had. Thornton's just fine now.

If i had a dollar for every time someone said "fairweather fan" I would be rich.. anyways yea.. i guess i didnt mean let him walk.. what i should have said was.. if it looks that Z will demand a huge contract next year, i would trade him the first opportunity i had... seems the guy is only ever healthy the first half of the season.. then as the playoffs get closer he is a wreck and it reflects in his play... dont get me wrong, i love the guy, but in a salary cap NHL i would be careful with a guy like Z. Who knows what kinda condition he will be in 5 years from now.. i would sign him 3 years at a time for no more than 7mil. Datsyuk is the most valuable guy here after Lidstrom... I'm not complaining because of the current losing streak.. i am one of the few who isnt worried actually... all i am saying is Z is not worthy of a 7 year contract for 9mil...end of story..
