sixer 37 Report post Posted February 16, 2008 Howard should be an improvement over how Ozzie's been playing lately and the line changes should freshen things up. I like the Z-Line, I think they'll be generating the most opportunities tomorrow. I say Detroit pulls it out 3-2. Go wings Go!!!
Superman54 91 Report post Posted February 16, 2008 Love it! Not that I hate Ozzie or anything, Id just like him to have some time to find his confidence again GOOOOOOOOOOO HOWIE!!!

Good to see Howard get his chance at starter, give Ozzy a break. Maybe get some D going, possibly moving their feet. I like that Flip is finally off the 1st line in his slump. YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted February 16, 2008 (edited) I think this'll set off a chance reaction. I dont think the veteran group will want to leave Howard out to dry, which will thus make them play a more conscious, smarter, tighter game defensively, which will then keep us out of a 3 goal hole, which will then motivate our forwards to gain a lead. This could be what the doctor ordered... Edited February 16, 2008 by YoungGuns1340
ben_usmc 253 Report post Posted February 16, 2008 best move, sorry but lately Ozzie just hasn't had his A game; first few I'd blame on D, at a certain point. Hopefully this well be a coming out party for Howard.

isbister 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2008 Switch Sammy with the crap I just took and we may have more production out of our 2nd line winger.
Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted February 16, 2008 When will Ralfalski be back? That question is more important to me. However there is nothing wrong with this call and nothing wrong with this streak. Besides me pulling my hair out that is. We needed hardship to strengthen the team, now lets pick it up and get the first seed locked up so we can rest Zetters back!!!
GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted February 16, 2008 They need to play with real passion, or else it doesn't matter what the lines are.

Sevumar 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2008 Hopefully this'll jumpstart things. I'm past the point where I look at any adjustments made and say, "gee, this has really got to be the thing that does it." The truth is no one knows what it'll take to light a fire under the Wings again. Maybe it's yoga and a thrilling literary discussion with Aaron Downey. Perhaps it's a line and goaltending shakeup. All the things we as fans have expected to spark a rebound haven't, yet.
55fan 5,133 Report post Posted February 16, 2008 I was hoping that Howard would start in Dallas, but I was afraid I'd look like I was bailing on Oz if I said so. I'd like to see what he's got, give him some experience, light a fire...all that stuff that's been said, but I also want to see Oz in Colorado. I know, it isn't the 90's and so much has changed, but I still smile at the thought of Osgood and Roy. Maybe it'll resonate in his head and clear out the negative thoughts that have been sent his way lately. Whatever it takes to bring out the fighter in him, figuratively or literally. So, Go Howard! Go Ozzie! Go Wings!
Duck Guy 86 Report post Posted February 16, 2008 (edited) I thought Howard was going to get the start last night after what Oz played like the other night. Good move Oz is in cold mode. Edited February 16, 2008 by Duck Guy
gcom007 1,465 Report post Posted February 16, 2008 They've gotta do something to get Ozzie going again. The losses were hardly all on Osgood, not even close, but he hasn't helped and it's not like you can just switch lines on him here and there. He needs some time to get his head back. The line shuffling, I don't see it as helping. This team just has to get their head on straight again. They just seem to have lost a lot of composure for whatever reason. I'm not worried about it though. Things like this happen. Osgood will be fine. The team will be fine. Even some minor additions at the deadline will freshen things up a bit. It's February. When the playoffs start and we start playing like this, then it's time to flip out. Until then, I'm not going to worry too much.

dallas27 7 Report post Posted February 16, 2008 Nice to see if we consider Howard the future starter. Only one way to find out and that is to throw him to the wolves.
poxer 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2008 Seeing as how I've been a Howard fan since he was in Toledo it makes me happy. Hopefully this trend will continue when Hasek is retired for good. Have Howard start and Osgood back up. Not that most of the loses were Ozzie's fault but some of the goals he should have stopped. Most of them were from poor support of the wings. They need to get back into peak condition but I think they are just getting tired. Its late in the season stuff like this happens. Hopefully they can get going again before playoffs start. gcom007 1,465 Report post Posted February 16, 2008 You can't really use this to judge Howard. It's just a game as of now. They're not going to keep him around this season and given the team-wide issue, it's not as if you can expect them to let Osgood sit the bench until Hasek is back. It's just one game. If he loses, that doesn't mean he's going to suck just as winning doesn't ensure greatness. When he goes through a training camp and comes into the regular season as the 1 or 2 goalie, we'll start figuring things out then. He needs NHL consistency per se before we can really judge. Right now really means nothing so just relax on the hatred come tomorrow. If the team plays like they've been playing, he's likely to look lousy anyways...
