OTTAWA SUN: Bruce Garrioch reports the following:

- The Canadiens, Sharks, Bruins and Senators are interested in Marian Hossa. Garrioch claims the Sharks could offer up either Patrick Marleau or Jonathan Cheechoo along with a prospect or pick and there's talk of the Bruins offering Glen Murray in a package deal.

SPECTOR'S NOTE: No rumors yet as to what the Habs and Sens might offer. Considering the drop-off in production of Marleau, Cheechoo and Murray plus their expensive contracts they might not be enough to entice Don Waddell to part with Hossa.

Don't see any indication anywhere in new news today that Detroit is in the running.
That could be a good thing, alot of the time big trades come outta the blue.

If Hossa really wants to go to a contender, I can't see him being happy with Boston or Montreal. It's the Sharks and Sens that worry me -- they have assets, and they're legitimate contenders.

To say I'll be pissed if we lose him to either of those clubs would be a drastic understatement.

Montreal is one of the hottest team in the NHL right now...

Higgins + Grabovsky + pick = Hossa (with 4 years extension)

Valtteri Filppula is on the ice at Joe Louis Arena right now, practicing with the rest of the Red Wings. That means that the intriguing facebook find posted on Behind The Jersey -- a Filppula facebook page saying that he had been traded to Atlanta -- isn't valid.

It was fun while it lasted...

But you know it'll be at least another ten years before they even crack the ECF.

I don't have an inside scoop or anything, but I've got to think that when Hossa says, "contender," he's not talking "hot."

Id give up filpulla if needed for a sized winger. We have enough small playmaking centers. I like filpulla a lot, but its whats best for the team.

agreed. i'm not too impressed with flip anyway. but clearly he doesn't really have a niche on this team. why do we need him when we have zetterberg and datsyuk? we need somebody big who can score.

Waddel is going to trade him, not sure that he'S going to ask Hossa where he want's to go?

I think that Montreal have a lot of young quality prospects to offer and they are going to have a lot of money to sign him...

Yes but if Hossa comes out and says he wont sign with that club then they wont want to trade for him...

Rumor has it that Atlanta wants Chris Higgins (among other prospects) for Hossa. That's not going to happen.

If we can snag Hossa for Filpulla it's a no brainer. Especially if we can sign Hossa longterm. Filpulla is going to be a 'good' NHLer but Hossa is great. And it's not like Hossa is 35 years old. He's only 5 years older than Filp, can play all 3 forward positions and is a proven NHL allstar.

If some sort of a sign and trade deal could be put in place that would be ideal.

I thought Waddel was looking for a player and a prospect or pick too though. Hossa for Flip straight up could never happen.

A deal could still have been made but has not yet been made official.. Fil would still be skating with the team in such a case I don't think it's over just yet..

I seem to remember a rumor saying that Waddell would give whichever team wanted to trade for Hossa 48 hours to discuss a contract with him or something like that. I wonder if Flip was informed that there was a possibility he was going to be traded, and as we speak, Holland is discussing with Hossa and his agent whether or not the Wings can accomodate Hossa's salary demands for next year.

Oh well, wishful thinking at least!
