The 2008 Trade Deadline Thread

Lang was a non-factor for us more often than not. He scored some clutch goals for us, but nothing consistent. And for the record, I was never a hater. But you've got guys like Cleary stepping up more now and I'm really thinking Flip is going to shine in the playoffs this year. Rafalski is an improvement over Schneider. The playoffs are a different game and I really think with more experience which we got last year, guys like Franzen and Cleary and Flip are going to be big for us in the playoffs. Experience counts for far more than you are giving it credit. We saw two very different Red Wings teams between the regular season and the playoffs last year and that's Babcock's game. We're going to see that again. I have little doubt of that.

Again, not saying depth wouldn't hurt, but we're hardly screwed if we don't get it.

WTF are you talking about. Your sting babble is so far off base I really do not know where to start. I am not giving experience credit you say? Your kidding, right. Because losing a guy like lang or Schnids, hell even Bertuzzi for what its worth caused our playoff experience levels to rise? UM, ok. I think you are blond by a wet dream you once had of Flip morphing into something better then the marginal second liner he currently is. Cleary was one of our best players in the playoffs last year, so your argument of him turning it up is somewhat moot, and franzen is franzen. He is a great defensive, shut down forward. He will continue to do so, but he does not offer much in our needed secondary scoring dept.

TSN is saying that sources are strong that Montreal and Ottawa are the only teams in the Hossa hunt right now.

Because thats different then it's been all day. oh wait no its not. People in here just keep thinking Hossa is still a possibility.

Trade Hudler and a 1st round pick for him that'll work!

...well everyone in the west is getting better. Dallas, San Jose, Colorado and Holland's team just lost 8 out 9 games and have seen their once unsurmoutable lead be dwindled down to 6 points. Teams have figured out Hank/Dats/Homer the defense in dead, Goaltending sucks, NOONE else can score, Fedorov to the Caps, Richards to the Stars, Forsberg & Foote back in 'Lanche country and San Jose is bolstering their "D" with Campbell...

...oh wait we signed Darren McCarty! Hooray! The Grind Line is back!!! Yippeee!!!!

I just hope the Sharks don't ship off Marleau for a top scorer. It's amazing that San Jose has been winning so much with such a horrible offense. Whatever happens, I hope that teams offense doesn't wake up.

I have another fear now. I have a fear that we will lose one of our young guys from some random defenseman that no one's really heard of who will be gone by May.

i'm thinking the Wings probably will do that .they better not sell their souls for a rental.

You and me both. I'm getting aggravated any time anyone calls me away from my desk. And then I come back to find out that the Wings STILL haven't gotten anyone.
