Son of a Wing 1,644 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 (edited) Link That’s according to Khan(!), who blogged from the evil depths of Rexall today. Also worth noting that, as rumors swirl prior to Tuesday’s 3 p.m. trade deadline, Babcock said Valtteri Filppula isn’t going anywhere. He had been rumored as possible trade bait for Atlanta’s Marian Hossa. Filppula was back on a line with Pavel Datsyuk and Tomas Holmstrom in practice. Believable? Yes. Could Babcock by lying? Yes. Gut tells you? Fil’s staying. And from Helene St. James’ blog, “Guys like Val Filppula and (Johan) Franzen, they’re not going anywhere, I can tell you that right now,” Babcock said. And how about “guys like Hudler, Kopecky or Lebda?” No word on that...yet. Edited February 25, 2008 by Son of a Wing
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 Fine with me. Hudler, Kopecky and Lebda... later gator
DeuxEx 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 I'd sooner have Hudler traded rather than Filpulla traded but I also don't think his value is very high right now. Doesn't sound like the Wings will be pulling many big moves in trades this year.

russianswede919293 95 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 This was posted several hours ago in multiple threads... don't think it needs it's own. It is newsworthy and is buried in the name Hossa in all the other threads. I think its coll to give it its own thread. I'm happy they are going to keep flap-jack he is still really young and will be a good player that will not be expensive.

HudlerRULES 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 This was posted several hours ago in multiple threads... don't think it needs it's own. Why does it matter to you where it is? superstarsingh 23 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 Good stuff. Hudler can go...however I dont know if there is much of a market for him now with a deal that can address our needs...Ah well.
cirov19 1 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 Lol, the whiny thread guy just wanted to post something. Anyways, that's done with. I'm glad Filp's not going anywhere but I reaaaaaaaaaaaally want Hossa, which right now looks to be NOT happening. Like Babcock said he doesnt think they are going to make a big splash at the deadline (he could be extremely) wrong, but Filp is like the only one of the trade-bait guys that manages to accomplish anything. dicksmack 33 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 I'm not surprised at all. Babcock has said that he feels Flip has "high-end offensive skill" and I agree.

Guest CaliWingsNut Report post Posted February 26, 2008 Why does it matter to you where it is? Quit crying about it because obviously you are not a MOD so there is absolutely NOTHING you can do I understand it's an open forum, and people may post what they wish... I'm just tired of people posting when they obviously haven't read what has already been discussed. Also... did I say it was on the hossa thread?? I honestly didn't remember where it was when I posted that.... but I'm pretty sure I read it in more than one thread. You wouldn't want me as a MOD on this forum, it wouldn't be as nearly as popular cause I'd be deleting useless (note not opinions, useless) stuff all the time. dicksmack 33 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 bye bye Huds. I think you're right. Hudler has been recognized around the league as a kid that can score given limited ice time. I've heard commentators and opposing announcers mention just that. He might fit nicely into a team that has more size.
GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 If Fillpulla's going nowhere, then the Wings are going nowhere. Without him any kind of Hossa deal is highly unlikely, meaning that we'll still have chumps playing on our 2nd line.
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 Whatever. As long as Samuelsson, Hudler, Lebda, and Lilja are finally off this team, and far away for that matter, I'll be fine. I just want those four losers finally gone, because they bring nothing of value whatsoever. I'd like to get Hossa, but the chances are so unlikely anyways. The Wings will probably aquire some depth guys, which hopefully end up helping in the playoffs.

Frazen, has great potential but he is not developing as fast as I like. And to think that some of the LGW posters want to trade him for a rental. Pleeeease... YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 (edited) Im calling bulls*** on this if people think Filppula was NEVER involved in trade talks. IMO, considering its 1 day before the deadline and this is the FIRST time weve heard anyone say that Flip is not going anywhere - despite the fact that there have been rumors about him for the past week or so - to me says that they're just covering their asses right now. And it makes sense. The last thing you want is Flip believing that he was on the block. I mean...what are they going to say? "Oh yeah well, we were all ready to trade Filppula, but it turns out there were so many better players offered for Hossa that Filpulla just wouldnt cut it in the trade." "Sorry Flip. We don't think youre invaluable to our team...and not many other teams think you have much value either..." No. Of course the Wings are going to say Flip was never in play.. seeinred 1,488 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 Not a huge surprise really. I doubted he was going anywhere when I heard Babcock's "High-end offensive skill comment" I'd love Hossa, but I'm also glad Val's staying. Slightly off-topic, but why on KK does Khan always have an exclamation point after it? I don't check that site often enough to know.

Personally, I didnt want Hossa for the longterm anyway, so in this case it doesnt matter to me. Curious to see who gets moved tomorrow and what couldve been though with Flip though, as he's definitely not an untouchable type player.
