evil204 4 Report post Posted March 6, 2008 Seriously, Maltby has a better slapshot than most of our team. We should use him more. I hope Babcock doesn't read this, or he might put Maltby on the point on the power play
kylee 727 Report post Posted March 6, 2008 ??? He played great in the playoffs last year. He always does. Yeah, I'd take him over Hudler too. maltby played good last year in the play-offs and i specifically remembering him scoring such a garbage goal against the Ducks at the Joe. it was like up in the air and he whacked it with his stick and went in. the only downer to the goal was that like less than 5 minutes later the ducks scored and took back the lead and im pretty sure won that game. hopefully maltby can score again tonight! Sebastian 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2008 Despite all you Maltby haters out there. Im just here to tell you that he is the man. His agitating skills are phenominal .. Sure he isnt Ott/Burrows/Avery worthy.. But he is still 1 hell of an agitator. His Plus's +Solid Agitator + Consistant Hitter + Great Defensivly + Speaks fluid english + Has a good shot when able to use it. + workhorse His Negatives - Offensive Upside - Age So with that being said. MALTBY IS THE MAN You forgot to say one Hell of a team player, cuz when kops shot the puck once and malts rammed the goalie and he was down he told kops "GOOD s*** MAN GOOD s***" lol

I hope Babcock doesn't read this, or he might put Maltby on the point on the power play As strange as it sounds, he'd probably do alright on the point. A more accurate, harder shot then Sammys and he's better defensively. If his name wasnt Kirk Maltby, he'd probably be on the point.

Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted March 6, 2008 Like Belak,Maltby is such a sniper. Belaks wrist shot is better then Maltbys. But Maltbys slapshot is better then Belaks. We could get both and put them on a line together and get tons of goals
Grittzkey 1 Report post Posted March 6, 2008 I gueese giving praise to our players during certain times of the year is against the rules.. mucho el intorestin. JK, i know what you mean, and it just so happens that a player really needs to realy SHOW UP on a huge scale before he gets his props.. all year he has been doing his job phenominaly, but i figured since he's had a good game or 2 id be a great time to give him props
Zion 93 Report post Posted March 6, 2008 Bunch of f***in' whiners and losers on this thread. While three years may have been too long a contract, gotta love Malts. Hopefully he can turn some of our forwards into PK specialists the way Chelios works with our young D.
Opie 308 Report post Posted March 6, 2008 I agree Malts does his job and does it very well, but to say he is the man or the bomb (do people really still say that?) is a bit of an exaggeration. He has had a pretty decent stretch here lately but like others have said he was invisible for how long? Malts is the man as of this past week doesn't really make for a good thread title though? I understand the excitement and I am glad to see some positive posts around here instead of the crap that has been flying around lately. Hopefully everyone will start to pick it up and get things going as the playoffs approach, but I happy to see the defensive veterans like Malt and Draper show that they are on track. They will log very important minutes in the postseason.

I'd like to preface by saying that. However, we can't really deny that he has lost his game a bit since the lockout. Is it simply that Malts relied too much on the kind of obstruction that is now called? Has he just lost a step? How do we explain the dramatic decline of his +/- when his role on the team has not really changed?

Williams29fan 6 Report post Posted March 12, 2008 http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article...5/80312007/1053 This writer apparently does not watch Draps and Malts very often. Both guys bring great PK every night. Draps still has alot of speed and is amazing at faceoffs. Malts on the other hand was not brought here for scoring in the first place. He was brought here for grit and the PK. Most of the time i see that every night. So do answer this guys question is not why do we love them, its why doesn't he? Inultus 12 Report post Posted March 12, 2008 He does it on purpose to draw a penalty. I think it's a great tactic. Tactic or not, and effective or not, it still annoys me when people facewash, agitate and don't back anything up.

Turkey 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2008 I think you can't ignore the main point of that article, which is that Draper and Maltby both seem to have lost a step. They are negative +/- players, slower, and not scoring. It wasn't that long ago that Draper was scoring all over the place. Something has happened and I'm afraid it might just be the atrophy that comes with time.
eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted March 12, 2008 TSN stats: I love Kirk Maltby. If we assume the only difference in his plus minus is offensive performance, that means there has been a decline of about 33 goals per year while he is on the ice. He's on pace for the same kind of points and +/- this year as the past two years, and that's 22 points down of his 03-04 season. So basically, between a decline in his defense and his linemates' offense, as well as his massive drop in offensive output, is where the difference lies.
