Jasper84 333 Report post Posted March 7, 2008 I'm going to be going to my first red wing game this week coming up, against Dallas. My buddy and I got tickets kind of late, so we're in the upper bowl. My buddy's brother was telling us that if we see better seats down below, where nobody has been sitting in during the game, we should move on down during the second period. He told us that he's done it before, and nobody ever stopped him or anything. Has anyone ever done this? If so, is it allowed?
WingMachine91 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2008 yeah, its done all the time. just sit in your seats for the first and scope out a certain area where u see empties. monitor that area and if u see its empty at the end, ur good to go. just go there when everyones moving around during the intermission. plus even if u get caught, all they will do is tell u to go back to ur seat. plan B. go right to the front where the players entrance is, and just sit somewhere, when people start filling in, just move around ur area and u might get lucky enough that nobody has those seats and ur right there, front row from the start. this works for me but not always. hope this helps....everyone does it

#19=Legend 29 Report post Posted March 7, 2008 I was planning on doing that at the game last night. There really were not much empty seats, so it was pretty hard to scope for them. But we were in the 5th row of the upper bowl, the seats were really not bad. Ive moved down to the lower bowl before tho. If you can find some then go for it. redwingschick33 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2008 Last season, I went from mid-upper bowl seats to glass seats using that method. It's done a lot so no worries. Worse comes to worse, you can just move back to your original seats. No big deal.
imisssergei 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2008 I've had seats all over the Joe. I prefer to sit anywhere between the bluelines in the upper bowl, the higher the better. My favorite seats are section 210. If you sit at the top, you can lean back and see the tv's that hang for in the press boxes in event of a reviewed play. I know they dont want show controversial decisions on screens when I goto international soccer matches. They do it to prevent crowd trouble

You see both sides of the rink, plus when i go to games at the Staples or Honda Center, the drunkest of all wings fan sit up there with me. It turns into a drunk duck bashing fest. I love it. cirov19 1 Report post Posted March 8, 2008 I usually just pick a seat at the beginning of the game and move around from there... not only at hockey games. It works at mostly every event (soccer games, football games, concerts), and i've never been moved back. there is usually always an empty seat and if you can't get two right beside each other for whoever your with then there will most likely be two really really close. no guarantees though. tiff_luvs_homer 5 Report post Posted March 8, 2008 we're sitting in the upper bowl when we go to the game next month... we're ok with our seats but do you think the ushers would let us down in the lowel level to take pictures for 5 minutes if we ask nicely? has anyone done this? One time I got there early and had a conversation with one of the ushers. At the second period he remembered us and moved us to seats in the lower bowl. I'd try asking after the first period. Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted March 8, 2008 (edited) I prefer Upper Bowl myself. They are cheaper, and you can see the game better. If you're going to spend the money for Lower Bowl seats (or shall I say take out a 2nd mortage for Lower Bowl seats), you might as well get behind-the-glass or something, since it's always fun to have close up seats like that. On a more realistic standpoint, though, I'd go with Upper Bowl, since that's usually what I buy whenver I do make it to a game, and I have no complaints (just don't get obstructed view, because those suck). #19forPresident! 1 Report post Posted March 8, 2008 i like sitting in the upper bowl. you see everything. ive sat in the lower bowl a couple times and its just not as fun. I couldn't agree more. Lower bowl seats usually leave me wondering where the 25$ difference went, thats if you paid to sit there of course. Unless a fight happens right in front of your face its not really worth it, you can see alot more action in the upper bowl. Up top, front 10 rows are perfect. Heck yeah, I don't think anybody would hassle you for that, if they did I would be very surprised and think a short explanation would take care of it. Of course I will attest that they kick you right the hell out after the game is over, I barely get a chance to collect my thoughts and remember where I parked before Joe the Isle Jockey comes and asks me to leave. Sometimes at Pepsi center we sit around after the games to wait until the wild crowds die down to get up and leave... I guess they're in a rush to get off work Edited March 8, 2008 by tiff_luvs_homer
auxlepli 17 Report post Posted March 9, 2008 In the Joe I like one or two rows down in the lower bowl on the sides. Plus an errant hockey puck might hit you in the head. The advantages to that are a possible rule change in your honor or you can sue the NHL.
Vladiator 116 Report post Posted March 9, 2008 If I have upper bowl seats that aren't all that great I will scout the lower bowl for empty seats during the 1st period and move down to them during the 1st intermission. Has worked for me every time and I have never been asked to leave. Best seats I ever got tickets for were for the 1st round playoffs last year against Calgary which were 2nd row from the top of the lower bowl right on the redline (the TV camera was right behind us). OsGOD 3 Report post Posted March 9, 2008 (edited) upper bowl in the corners like row 24, 25, and 26 or those rows where ever are the worst seats there. The flatten out and you can't see the ice unless you stand all game. Which at that point its worth it spend another $5 to get to stand about at the top of the lower bowl. oh gee, are you serious? Sometimes at Pepsi center we sit around after the games to wait until the wild crowds die down to get up and leave... I guess they're in a rush to get off work They just don't want to be killed in Detroit afterhours is all... can't really fault them much like the other 19,000 there... they want to get the hell out of the run down waste of a city Edited March 9, 2008 by OsGOD
tiff_luvs_homer 5 Report post Posted March 9, 2008 I hope our seats are good in case we can't move, we're upper bowl right in the center 20 rows up.
