zata40 3 Report post Posted March 7, 2008 Anyone watching the Nash/Nucks game? It's end of the 3rd, nucks winning 6 to 2, and tootoo just came on the ice and delivered quite the dirty hit to miller. seriously, he's not going to last long in this league the way he plays. god I hate him
grsbmd 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2008 It kind of makes me wish there was more the league could do to repeat offenders than keep suspending them for a few games. With Tootoo, it's not a matter of whether he is going to take another cheap shot; it's only when. You shouldn't have situations in the league where certain players causing malicious injuries doesn't come as a surprise to anyone.
haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted March 7, 2008 Just saw the highlights. It seriously is the exact same crap with him. He throws a questionable hit, then a teammate of the guy he just railed skates over, this time not even with their stick up or anything, and Tootoo immediately crosschecks him to the face, drops of the gloves and starts throwing haymakers. He's a disgrace.
puckbags 863 Report post Posted March 7, 2008 I didn't think the original hit was too dirty but the way he defends himself with his stick on Bourdon after is just brutal. It doesn't suprise me one bit coming from the The little TooToo train that couldn't!!
RedFX 48 Report post Posted March 7, 2008 Haven't seen the play, so I can't really comment on that. To me though, it sounds like JT was frustrated and he lost his cool. Looking at the boxscore, it looks like there was a pretty big brawl that followed shortly after that, so I wonder if his hit had anything to do with that. Like I said before, Tootoo plays with alot of intensity. Sometimes that's a good thing, sometimes thats a bad thing. If he ever learns to control his emotion, he could have a solid career. Feldmarschall 9 Report post Posted March 7, 2008 (edited) Just another bunch of stupid behavior from this goon. Hopefully next time somebody of similar caliber just runs in with a stick to Tootoo's face and preempts the whole thing, since the league will never muster the balls to put an end to this. RedFX 48 Report post Posted March 7, 2008 I wouldn't call that boarding. I've seen more obvious not get called.
haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted March 7, 2008 (edited) I wouldn't call that boarding. I've seen more obvious not get called. The hit was questionable. I'd have to see the replay again. If anything it was more likely a charge than a board. Still, it's a hit that's gonna get a reaction. That doesn't mean you turn around and crosscheck the nearest guy in the face. Edit: watching it a couple more times, it didn't look like a charge, he just had the stick and gloves up high. Edited March 7, 2008 by haroldsnepsts
Yzerfan1999 81 Report post Posted March 7, 2008 (edited) Its annoying that he is a pretty good fighter, and I haven't seen him get railed that many times. But when he does...oh boy. That kid is going to get the sh*t kicked out of him one day...either that or a career ending hit. What goes around comes around...eventually. To me it looked like Jordin was coming in from the side and was trying to cut of Miller at the board. It looked like Miller looked up and just kinda braced himself. The aftermath didn't look like anything provoked either. It looked liked they were both talking and Tootoo just hauled off and hit him.
CAredwingsfan91 28 Report post Posted March 7, 2008 idk it looks like a solid clean hit from the replay we have in that youtube video, it does kind of look like hes charging at a "i want to hurt this guy" we are talking about tootoo here so idk about this one guys. obviously the second part is straight up cheap but idk its questionable unless someone can make me see different. KevinD 1 Report post Posted March 7, 2008 interesting? odd that tootoo has not been a problem to the wings since downey spoke to him. downey had his say and jordin disappeared. we'll see if that continues.
seeinred 1,488 Report post Posted March 7, 2008 (edited) Tootoo gets absolutely ZERO benefit of the doubt from me anymore. I believe he was trying to hurt Miller with that hit. I was listening to the Vancouver feed on XM, and their initial reaction was that it was a charge, not boarding. One of the announcers said right after, "he's not playing with a full deck anyways" which is absolutely true. Hopefully he'll get a couple games worth of vacation for his actions there. What I really want to see is what happened after that with De Vries and Bieksa. I guess they both shot the puck at each other, then went at it. Bieksa got an instigator for it, and it was only with 54 seconds left or so. The announcers didn't seem to think he should have gotten the instigator, but then again, they were Vancouver announcers (the best announcers from another team I've ever heard, FWIW). RedWingAbner 13 Report post Posted March 7, 2008 I just think it's another example of how players misidentification has hurt the game. For instance-- Tootoo probably thinks of himself as a tough S-O-B, but in reality, how long would he have lasted in the Probert-Kocur era? Not ten minutes. The instigator rule and Gary Bettman's "new NHL" have created this-- the little s*** who runs around and never answers the bell. I mean, Tootoo has to know that he can do this type of thing. He gets what, 10 minutes of ice a game, if he's lucky? He knows that he's probably the least talented guy out there between any two teams on any given night (even enforcers have some value), and he knows that if someone does respond to his bulls*** that the other team will lose a player of higher value than him. He'll never drop the gloves, but he knows what he does merits it and that's why you see the lumber-to-the-face defense every time he does this stuff. It's getting to the point that for the good of the league someone needs to put him out. God forbid some star gets railed by this pathetic piece of unevolved garbage. If Chris Simon gets "only" 30 games for trying to cut off a guy's leg, have someone stab the little bastard. They'll only get 40 in Gary Bettman's league. Wings_Dynasty 267 Report post Posted March 7, 2008 He is trying to hurt every player he hits. I was convinced of it last season and the evidence keeps piling up. He's a disgrace and shouldn't even be in the AHL. Stay classy Nashville.
Inultus 12 Report post Posted March 7, 2008 Whether you guys like it or not, TT does fight and he does win fights. Now half the time he hauls off and starts punching before the other guy is ready, but if I was on the ice I would expect that from him. I hate the little prick and I wish he would get pounded into the ground, but at some point that is going to happen, we just have to be patient. His constant charges and sucker-punches don't change the fact that he is a good fighter and he does fight.

There's more to hockey than fighting. Sportsmanship is big in the NHL, and intent to injure and fighting the other guy before he knows he's in a fight are qualities I don't want in my game. No actually it won't, because if a player is squared with him and ready to go, he cross checks them in the face. If the player expects the crap from Tootoo and tries to get an early advantage as soon as he touches Tootoo he goes down like a European soccer player. He is a POS and that is all there is to be said about that. He wouldn't have lasted a day in the late 80's early 90's. His teammates would have beat the s*** out of him, let alone the other team! RedArmy 4 Report post Posted March 7, 2008 again the stupid comment, the league is going to take a look at that... they always say that and the league doesn't do anything about it. Cross checking in the face should be automatic suspension... that hit on Kopecky the other day, nothing was done about that...

This is NHL the most prestigious league in the world for hockey, which is now more international then ever. He has to tone down the goonery and get with the program. Play physical stop being a goon...
