Sergeiwasmyfav 0 Report post Posted March 20, 2008 So what game is McCarty planning on coming back, then? Thursday? Next Friday? This weekend? Maybe McCarty just figured that if the guy was really as big of a Wings fan as his mom was saying he was, he would know by using powers of deduction that he meant next Friday, as the Wings don't play this Friday. Thus, it had to be next Friday. Also, sometimes when you know in your head what day something is, you don't think of it the way others will, which will lead you to say something that seems completely clear to you, but is ambiguous to others. Perhaps McCarty knew what Friday he meant, and he has had Friday in his head as the day to come back, so he just said Friday knowing what he meant. People do that all the time. YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted March 20, 2008 I would love to bump into players all the time and not live very far from them. Next time the Wings are at home for a while maybe I should drive downtown for a daytrip and attempt such a feat (in a non-stalkerish way of course ). That's so cool that DMac stopped to talk with your mom, I can't wait to see him on the ice! Ehh, I wouldnt bother going downtown. If youre not too far, you should hit up the Birmingham/Bloomfield area. Henrik Zetterberg lived in my aunts neighborhood in Birmingham on the west side of woodward - not sure if he still lives there. Luc Robitaille lived in the 555 building off of woodward in Birmingham (met him at 2.89 dry cleaners in birmingham). Brett Hull lived only a couple blocks from the Blockbuster in Birmingham off of old woodward (met him at that blockbusters and saw him buy some girl scout cookies). I think he lived on Ann st, but Im not positive. Steve Yzerman has lived and still does in Bloomfield Hills for as long as I can remember. His neighborhood is off of Long Lake, between woodward and Lahser. When Hatcher was here, he lived off of Lahser, north of Long Lake, practically across the street from Lahser high school (where I went to school some years ago). Robert Lang lived in Birmingham around the same place where Zetterberg and Hull did. Hudler also lived in Lang's basement all of last year. (I met Lang at cheeburger cheeburger in birmingham off of 15 mile...go figure...and my cousin babysat for his daughters. Jennifer Lang was teasing Hudler for a while that he should take my cousin to her prom.) Dominik Hasek lived in the bloomfield/birmingham area when he played here the first time. Not sure if he still lives here now. And finally, a good friend of mine is half Russian-half Ukranian and she goes to this Russian disco in Pontiac where she has met Pavel Datsyuk at least a couple times. Then again, if youre looking for the Draper/Osgood/Maltby crew, Im pretty sure those guys live out in the Farmington area. And I thought Nick lived in Northville, but I think I might be thinking of someone else. Other people probably know more about that area than I do.

Hank 0 Report post Posted March 20, 2008 This was years ago, but I ran into Probert at a gas station on Ford Rd, he signed some autographs for me, including a picture of him fighting Troy Crowder. Pretty cool to say the least I got to meet him also, just after his probation was lifted from his coke charge. He was doing a promo in Leamington for a car dealership that my grandfather worked at. When Probie arrived he called my mom who pulled me out of school so I could meet him. He was really nice and signed an autograph for me. What I most remember was the size of his hands. They were like dinner plates.

dallas27 7 Report post Posted March 20, 2008 My friend went #1 with Draper, he said Drapes didn't wash his hands. Come on Draper. If you really want to see a bunch of people, work with me. Dino gets everything for his outing and all his golf stuff with us at Golfsmith. I've seen him a couple times. Carlos Guillen also got a bunch of stuff from us last year. Some d-bag that used to work with us went right up to Guillen and was like "shouldn't you be practicing for the game" or something like that, totally scared Carlos off. Thanks d-bag that used to work with us. If you are like me and just say "hey, what's up" you will actually find out they are willing to talk to you. Don't ask for their autograph, don't talk about sports at all, and truth be told they will have a conversation with you. Guillen has NO jaw, pprrrrooobably from chewing nearly all year round. Cern 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2008 (edited) My parents lived in Edmonton during the dynasty years. Edmonton's never been a huge city so they'd always run into Gretzky or Messier in line at the bank or at the supermarket. My mom also used to do cancer research so she'd always see the team when they came over to the hospital to show the Cup to the kid patients. I was just born when all this stuff happened and we moved to Calgary when I was three, so I never (knowingly) encountered them myself. I do have a bunch of their signatures though.
