shoe 165 Report post Posted March 27, 2008 Rules: Tie a red string around your wrist for a win. Tie a white string around your wrist for a loss. Post pictures as we go! Questions? Comments? Concerns? Just a thought here what if... they loose 4 straight or even 4-1 that would be hard to participate in, Id hate to be tagged with 4 white strings. This would be unlikely but in the playoffs anything can happen (better not!) An alternative idea could be... red for home win white for away win Those white ones dont look so bad now do they! Yzermania19 1 Report post Posted March 28, 2008 Or, how about this - Stick with the red strings for wins, but none for losses. Then, at the end of each series, wind a white one around the red ones, so each round ends up being a separate bracelet of it's own. The white strand ends up symbolizing the Wings winning the series and the fact they are moving on to the next series. Ideally, you'd end up with four red, four-strand bracelets bound by a single white strand.

Yeah well we wanted to signify the struggle that went into the playoffs. Can't just pick and choose the wins. And guys do the playoff beards through wins and losses right? So we have to do something for both wins and losses.
RockyMountainWingGal 108 Report post Posted March 28, 2008 The string is "cute" but I agree doesn't rival the beard. I'd have to second the - "just don't shave your legs or arms for two months". You'll get used to how it looks after awhile. You can always wear long pants - and tee shirts if you don't want anyone to see anyways. And you can shave it off when your team exits - hopefully June!! We Americans are too vain about our shaving habits anyhow. Not to give TMI - but I live in a cold weather climate and don't shave my legs all winter anyways - since I never wear shorts for months (sadly). Just my 2 cents on what would really truly rival the beard.

tiff_luvs_homer 5 Report post Posted March 28, 2008 Maybe I'll have to try this idea for the avs with burgundy and blue string. That is, of course depending on how tonight's game goes and the games following that... I have my fingers crossed!

redwingslady87 130 Report post Posted April 6, 2008 Bumping this thread up so it doesn't get lost in the mix. I used a braided chain technique to make the bracelets a little thicker since I need mine to be stronger than a single string with where I work. One of each is made for Thursday night's game. Hopefully on Friday I will be making another red one. LET THE PLAYOFF'S BEGIN!!!
PenaltyShot 96 521 Report post Posted April 6, 2008 I like the braids, but I have not the skill to do stuff like that. I hadn't really thought about how i would do the bracelets, I was just going to tie single strings I guess.

Bring your reds on thursday.. we will come up with something creative.... gotta focus on the reds, cause there won't be many whites I can braid kinda... not as good at the ones up there, but we can do it!!! haha Hand over your man card please. Its not wrong to know how to braid... I got lots of practice when i was younger sitting in church bored as heck... i braided the hymn place holder tags... i used to go a lot when i was younger, so it kinda grew on me. PenaltyShot 96 521 Report post Posted April 6, 2008 Fine I will braid them lol. Maybe some general guidance please? Do I just tie three threads together at one end, tape it to a desk, and have at it? Gah those friendship bracelets were so long ago... *ashamed*

Gah those friendship bracelets were so long ago... *ashamed* You're doing good so far. Braiding is really just weaving each strand under and over each other. Once you get the hang of it, it will be really easy. But in all honesty, just because i braided mine, doesn't mean you have to braid yours. do whatever you want, you could sit there with two strands and just use them to tie knots over and over again.
