JESUS CHRIST. i win.

I think we're talking skaters. Everyone knows Jesus was a goalie.

That said...

The ideal forward, based only on forwards I have seen play live, without using anyone twice.

Skating: Pavel Bure

Wrist Shot: Joe Sakic

Slap Shot: Sergei Fedorov

Puckhandling: Alexei Kovalev

Passing: Adam Oates

Defense: Guy Carbonneau

Hitting: Gary Roberts

Leadership: Steve Yzerman

Faceoffs: Ron Francis

Vision: Wayne Gretzky

Fighting: Bob Probert

Strength: Jaromir Jagr

The ideal defenseman, made only from defensemen I have seen live, without using anyone twice.

Skating: Paul Coffey

Wrist Shot: Ray Bourque

Slap Shot: Al MacInnis

Puckhandling: Sergei Zubov

Passing: Brian Leetch

Defense: Brad McCrimmon

Hitting: Vladimir Konstantinov

Leadership: Scott Stevens

Vision: Nicklas Lidstrom

Fighting: Marty McSorley

Strength: Jiri Fischer

Hudler's cheeky but not quite laugh-out-loud-funny remarks during breaks.

Hasek's smooth blend of luck and skill.

Forsberg's feet shoulders legs groin neck. Ok, not Forsberg.

Oh damn, forgot about Leetch, everybody! I would take his anticipation and overall slick-ness. Like Lidstrom, he made no mistakes.

All I know is my player would need Gordon Bombay's triple deke

i recently made an adjustment to that famous deke and my scoring has quadrupled. i realized that after that movie EVERYONE expects a triple, so i do 2.5 and score on the backhand. its completely unstoppable but doesnt have such a catchy name.

2.5 would be drag to the forehand, drag to the backhand, drag towards the forehand and sort of flip the puck on the deke.

Unless you mean a 'double-deke' where you drag to the fore, then the back, and then shoot.

Your platform looks fun... Mine, based on active players.

Forwards

Skating: Marion Gaborik

Wrist Shot: Alexander Ovechkin

Slap Shot: Jarome Iginla

Puckhandling: Alexei Kovalev

Passing: Joe Thornton

Defense: Sammy Pahlsson

Hitting: Dustin Brown

Leadership: Brendan Shanahan

Faceoffs: Yanic Perreault

Vision: Sidney Crosby

Fighting: Derek Boogaard

Strength: Jaromir Jagr

Defense

Skating: Scott Niedermayer

Wrist Shot: Dion Phaneuf

Slap Shot: Zdeno Chara

Puckhandling: Brian Campbell

Passing: Tomas Kaberle

Defense: Willie Mitchell

Hitting: Mike Komisarek

Leadership: Rob Blake

Vision: Nicklas Lidstrom

Fighting: Shane O'Brien

Strength: Chris Pronger

Mind you, Lidstrom excels the most in passing, leadership, defense, and vision... But I had to pick his biggest asset.

Hull's ability to put his foot in his mouth

Pronger's Dirty play

Sean Avery's attitude

Claude Lemuix's Reputation

That would be the perfect hockey player...

We have already seen two different versions of the ultimate hockey player: Steve Yzerman and Brendan Shanahan

Now we see the final draft: Alex Ovechkin

AO has Steve like movement and Shanny like release and charisma

Of course, the Steve-Shanny mix that is AO will never be equal to the sum of its parts :)

Not to say Ovechkin is ultimately better than both... But it's pretty obvious he is faster than Stevie, and has a better shot than Shanny.

He's not faster than Stevie was before he went knee-first into the goal post. That's the truly sad part about Stevie's career...how much greater he could have been without suffering a severe knee injury early in his career that hindered him for another seventeen seasons.

OV is amazing. I never had the chance to see Stevie live when he was unhurt and young, but OV is so charismatic. What an amazing player. If you get the chance to see see him... go! Shanny is my favorite player, but OV is moving up and will take the mantle once Shanny retires.

Pronger's legs (instead of Chris Simon's).

Or maybe I'd take only one leg from him,the other one would come from Hemsky.

He has the amazing superpower to clearly kick the puck in the net and it still stands.

I can't really imagine Stevie being faster than Ovechkin in any point of his career. Stevie seemed like more of raw talent combined with pure determination... Two attributes way more important than speed.

I want to blend Pavel Datsyuk and Joey Kocur, but Bettman won't let me.

If you could combine those two, I would be fearful were I the other team.

Whatever the makeup of a player, I'd definitely want him to have Pasha's stickhandling ability.

I am going to create my perfect forward...that seems more fun than defense.

Brain - Gretzky

Vision - Crosby

Heart - Yzerman

Size - Lecavelier

Hands - Datsyuk

Speed - Bure

One-Timers - Shanahan/Hull

Slap-Shot - MacInnis

Wrist-Shot - Sakic

Durability - Lidstrom

Fighting Ability - Laraque

All of this with the dashing good looks of Henrik Zetterberg....that seems like a pretty good player to me.
