Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted April 11, 2008 One game? Maybe, possibly, but it won't happen... But now for the more interesting question: do we want Kronner to do this on a regular basis? Of course everyone wants more giagantic open ice hits by him and the team in general. Provided he doesn't play dirty or get himself hurt. I don't think it was a dirty play at all, and I was glad to see it. I do think its completely crap that if any player did that to one of our boys there would be total outrage. Yet the fact that a simple discussion of the possiblity that this play could lead to action by the league is met with ill will towards anyone with the audacity to attempt to look at this objectively is disturbing. It is silly to get so defensive, it is called conversation.
Opie 308 Report post Posted April 14, 2008 The hit just made Sportcenters Ultimate Highlight!! BTW I love working from home, the internet is beautiful!
OsGOD 3 Report post Posted April 14, 2008 Of course everyone wants more giagantic open ice hits by him and the team in general. Hell no we don't....as evidenced by this event... there would be threads every game for every player calling for a suspension... Open ice hits must be illegal somewhere somehow!!!! Real1 2 Report post Posted April 15, 2008 For the hit in game 3, I don't think that he should be suspended, rather than fined. If it happens again, then I think he will get the boot for a few games. (1-3 games. For multiple hits to the head.)
CrossoverThrash 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2008 His hit today was totally clean, although he got the head, they should rather look at some of the nashville cheapshots
RoninJai 5 Report post Posted April 15, 2008 Nashville did numerous hits of the same nature in game two. Datsyuk in particular got levelled by one of them right by the bench. A) Nashville shouldn't be so shocked by their own tactics being used against them, and B) If it goes one way, i.e. suspension, then it should go equally in the other direction. Opie 308 Report post Posted April 15, 2008 Those are a lot of shoulds, and did you just try to use logic, seriously dude, these refs have a hard enough time with black and white rules, let along logic, holy s***. I am not sure the war room in Toronto has the capabilities to use logic. (Not making fun of you but the refs!)
NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted April 15, 2008 A fair "bump". I will say this, Kronner really needs to watch the way he levels people a little more closely. No one loves an unsuspecting hit to guy with his head down than me, but it must done cleanly. This isn't to say that a last second change in positioning doesn't happen which can result in a player getting hit differently, but if its a player that has the puck with his head down and doesn't change direction, there's no excuse for leaving your feet and delivering a high blow to the head. You can, and absolutely should run them over, but within the rules of the game.
vangvace 12 Report post Posted April 16, 2008 Niklas Kronwall went head-hunting again, this time leaving his feet and leading with his elbow to nail Radek Bonk in the second period. After all the noise the NHL made last fall about cracking down on head shots, it's amazing to me that Kronwall has been allowed to get away with this twice in three games. The guy's not generally a dirty player, but he's too amped up out there and he isn't going to stop until he gets suspended for it. Apparently, that requires a concussion or worse to be suffered by one of the Preds. It's good to see that Colin Campbell has time to clarify rules to address a situation when players are making no contact at all. Great priorities there, guy. link

Third Man In 2,091 Report post Posted April 16, 2008 I said basically the same thing about the hit in the GDT no Monday, but it turns out Trotz agrees: Regarding Niklas Kronwall's crunching hit on Radek Bonk on Monday, Trotz said he first thought it was a penalty but, on review, "Bonk sort of bent down and tried to go under a little bit, and I felt that Kronwall really didn't leave his feet. I thought it was just a good, clean hockey hit." Here's the full article

Real1 2 Report post Posted April 16, 2008 I hope Kronwall has some more hits like that tonight!!!!! thumbup.gif Why? If he has one more of these kind of hits, he will probably get suspended. We don't need him suspended, he does a lot of good work for us.
12Newf 0 Report post Posted April 16, 2008 (edited) the nhl wont suspend him! the first one he jumped and elbowed the guy in the head, obviously good enough for a 2 minute penalty. the second one trotz is absolutely right, bonk saw him coming and tried to bend down to avoid the hit which meant kronwall got him in the head and went over top of him which made it look like he left his feet. if bonk hadve taken the hit standing up it would have been a big clean hit.
