Your announcers sound like hicks and just completely ruin the game experience. Watching Versus seems like you're watching some cheezy wrestling event and the commentary is awful (except for ex-pass sports announcer Strader). Whoever causes Mickey and Ken Daniels to be blacked out in my area deserves to burn in hell. Now go televise some team like the Ducks that no one gives a rip about. That's right a Wings game. I was pissed earlier in the night because our GOV PCs block all P2p Servers and Internet radio so I was freaking out thinking that I was not going to be able to see/hear the Wings play. So I'm on shift then for some reason I decided to turn on our TV and what was on THE Wings I went nuts. Apparently AFN is broadcasting all the playoff games so I'm now in heaven. I now get to watch the Wings play tonight SO hell yeah cant wait to go to work tonight. O yea the Game was being broadcasted on VS so if it wasn't for them I would not be able to watch them play. I'm thinking your a Wings hater because a True Wings fan would do what I did and watch it with no sound! I love watching the Wings play no matter who the hell is broadcasting. Some people don't live in the immediate area to watch Red Wings games. Some people don't get NHL Center Ice. Versus and NBC is all some fans might possibly have. So I'll take any hockey that is being broadcasted nationally, thank you very much. If it is that torturous for you, hit the damn mute button on your TV. I can put up with a lot for the Wings. This is not to say, however, that there isn't room for improvement; but whatever, it's a game and I get to see it with my own eyes. Go Wings!!! VladyIBELIEVE16 257 Report post Posted April 12, 2008 I just wish their feed was clear - last nights selection of games were horrible - the feed was choppy, stopping at moments, etc. This is what I wish were resolved in addition to the fact that - if you can't join a game when it's starting - let CENTER ICE CARRY IT....that way we can ALL have every game as we used to. Seems as if the contract no longer reads "all regular season games and the first two rounds of the playoffs on center ice...." I dislike how they are handling this (they should allow center ice to carry the first two rounds of the playoffs with a FEW games on VS. as it USED to be).....Also VS isn't giving the games enough time to end - they had the 4-6:30 (PST) Philly game on with the Avs series starting at 6:30 (PST) when their game started at 6pm (PST)... Which means that (on the initially issued wings series - they have game four as a JIP (Joined in Progress) you miss part of the game - the entire FIRST period as it happened last night - I Don't LIKE IT....It's awful, horrific planning by the NHL to allow this to happen. They should know most of us are interested in ALL the games happening around the league as this is the BEST time of year for hockey and we all want to see the other games as a result. Emrick is probably the second most terrible guy in hockey coverage behind Woody Paige. I'm OK with NBC although they're years behind FSN or TSN. but if we get to CBC and get to watch quality team facing some rough, skill-less Canadian team (read: Flames)... now this is something you really get annoyed. guys who praise every crappy play of Canadian team and bash much clearer actions of the team from US. I remember this year's Winter Classic when Pierre couldn't go 10 seconds without orgasming about Sindey Crosby. and I bet his pants were wet when Sid scored shootout winner. and then ppl wonder how come so many die hard fans start hating Crosby when I was young and my homeland (Poland) was still communist there was a joke about Lenin being on all channels and all the time in TV and viewers being afraid of opening a can with fish (to not see Lenin again). I'm Como and work at a site were we are the main target for mortar and rocket attacks. Working on that site is only one of our tasks. That site has the hookup of creature comforts. The last time I checked the people that work in the TOC never ran convoys let alone was a gunner on them. So the right term for me and my people here would be POGS not fobits. I freaking hate Emrick and Pierre. Emrick makes up words all through the game that have nothing to do with hockey, and somehow people think he's smart for it??? "he pitchforks it into the zone" - "he spins it into the zone" - "he hooks it into the zone" ... there are worse ones, but even those are stupid as hell. Next time I'm at the rink, I'm going to ask someone I'm playing with to "spin it" or "hook it" and see what they do. And how about... "100 seconds left in the period." what a freaking moron. Part of his duty in broadcasting a game is guiding the viewer, not distracting him / her. Every time he says an idiotic measurement like 100 seconds or "he's been playing for an eighth of a century" it is very distracting and stupid. As for Pierre... that guy is always talking about the mood and feel on the bench, he has no freaking idea, they are all fabricated guesses. It's like watching a reality show where it's edited to make you think an event it happened a certain way. Sorry Pierre, I see right through it. Way to make people think you know what you're talking about just to have a job. On the contrary, I met Pierre and he was a SUPER NICE GUY. So I don't hate his guts, just his foolish commentary. Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted April 12, 2008 Most of the guys working for Versus now are broadcasters of teams already eliminated from the playoffs. I.E. Dave Strader (Phoenix), Rick Peckham (Tampa), etc. If the Wings are on Versus, I'd prefer they have Strader on. He's a former Wings guy (PASS sports), so he's not malicious when he talks about them, not like that idiot Mike Emrick. He's a good broadcaster as well, and I've always liked him. They should also put John Vanbiesbrouck on color, since I think he's a great secondary guy. Him and Strades worked good together last year, plus Vanbiesbrouck is a Detroit guy, so he's always nicer when talking about the Wings than some of these other colors guys (Eddie Olczyk, Andy Brickley, etc.). Ideally, I'd like to see them put Strader and Vanbiesbrouck on together for any games on Versus. If not them, than I'd take Peckham and Neil Smith, since those guys aren't too bad either.
