kherty 3 Report post Posted April 15, 2008 Well, you can't just sit back and play protect-the-lead with 15 minutes to go in the 3rd of a playoff series. Exactly, which is why I feel this is a strategy breakdown. Why are we playing prevent when we should be playing our own game of controlling the puck and playing aggressive goal-scoring hockey. Does anybody feel that changing the lines from game to game is confusing? To me, it seems we can't get in our groove from game to game...
Guest ForeChecK Report post Posted April 15, 2008 Reason why we lost? we went soft, If you put the pressure on nashville they crumble. When you play soft, just like anyteam, they have time and space to flurish.. Wings let there guard down. Game 4 prediction Hartigan Out/Downey In Lilja Out/Lebda In Babcock will make his statement known, Hartigans worthless play and constant penalties, and Lilja's defensive hickups aren't going to cut it. Third Man In 2,091 Report post Posted April 15, 2008 Come on, people! (if anyone is actually still reading other posts at this point) I'm as pissed about this as the rest of you, but this turning on each other s*** has to go. The series is 2-1. If the Wings win Wednesday, mission accomplished: series 3-1 heading back to Detroit. If they lose, they still have home ice. If they are the team we all think they are, they'll bounce back. Go Wings!
Packer487 3 Report post Posted April 15, 2008 Third goal was pretty bad, no clue what people want Hasek to do on that fourth one. He cut the angle as well as he could have and Arnott made a beautiful shot up under the bar. He had about an inch to squeeze that shot in and he did it. We're still winning this series in 5 games. It's fine.
puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted April 15, 2008 The Wings apparently forgot that it's the playoffs in the third. They've done this all season, tried to sit on a one goal lead. Pathetic effort in the third, despite Datsyuk's heroic goal -- which should have been a catalyst to finish the Preds off. Instead, they were all lulled into their comfort zone of a one-goal lead and tried to skate out the last 17 minutes of the game. Blame Hasek if it makes you happy. For those who live for this situation so you can be "right," remember that the Wings lose when Hasek "loses" -- Perhaps that will temper the joy. If the Wings didn't learn anything from this game, they don't deserve to move on. I, for one, believe we won't see the likes of thisgarbage again. At least we'd better not. PashaFan 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2008 Losing one game in the first round means that you cannot win the cup?? REALLY??? I guess the only two teams that can win it are Dallas or Pittsburgh!! Superman54 91 Report post Posted April 15, 2008 these 2 goals in seconds thing needs to f***in stop! Im holding in my anger with Hasek...not once have I ripped into him this year, but a goalie needs to bail u out, and with the amount of 2 for 1 goals happening, he isnt doing it! neither the defense. So vets, waaaaaaaake up and stop that s*** that is all, we will get them next time!
Dominator2005 558 Report post Posted April 15, 2008 keys to tonights game. 1) hasek misses easy low shot from the point that ties the game. 2) hasek misses slapshot from the left circle. (this one to a lesser extent due to lilja being useless on D) i'm sorry but he's got to stop those. first two goals IN NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM HIS FAULT. i'll give him that. BUT you have to stop those in the playoffs. end of story. oh well. if babs is as good a motivator as i think he is, we should be goddamn fired up for game 4 and back in detroit to take it at the joe. I will try to save your time = IT'S HASEK FAULT
Hockeytown Red Wings 245 Report post Posted April 15, 2008 There were too many turnovers at our own blue line. There was too much sitting back. This is the playoffs, you can't just sit on a lead. You have to be agressive and go for more goals. That doesnt mean sending both defensemen to pinch in, but don't sit back and wait. Ah, I'm gonna be so pissed off until Wednesday. BlueMonk 102 Report post Posted April 15, 2008 That's just where you're wrong, and that's why everyone is frustrated we lost. Nashville didn't do anything better than us. They just had a couple of scoring spurts, coupled with brain farts and Legace-like goaltending in the clutch. The Wings outplayed Trashville and still lost, and the last 4 minutes of the game, we didn't even come close to generating any scoring chances. This team looked shellshocked out there the last part of the game. Sorry, the Wings were awful tonight.
Cruiser008 37 Report post Posted April 15, 2008 4 Things: The officials really lost their balls in the 3rd when Rafalski (?) was brought down and there was no call. Stuart has got to improve his positioning; the 2nd Nashville goal was 100% his fault Hasek needs to stop that 3rd goal next time if we are to go deep into the playoffs, pure and simple. We tried to sit on one goal lead for 19 1/2 min so the tying goal wasn't totally unexpected, but the GWG.... well that sucked and I don't wanna talk about it. Nev 1,085 Report post Posted April 15, 2008 *Newsflash* more losses to come So true, but its the manner of the loss that sucks so much. We had this game, and a 3-0 lead in the bag TWICE and blew it both times.
