zettsyukwall415 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2008 Pavel Datsyuk (Detroit) Jason Pominville (Buffalo) Martin St. Louis (Tampa Bay) Might as well say congrats to Datsyuk for his third Lady Byng.
Nero 20 Report post Posted April 24, 2008 (edited) I thought Lidstrom or Zetterberg would have been nominated for it too... but an early congratulations to Lady Byng for winning the P. Datsyuk award He's sure to be a lock.. he blows the others right out of the water Edited April 24, 2008 by Nero
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted April 24, 2008 He got a roughing penalty this year and has a little scrummier than years past. If he wins, itll be pretty obvious that the voters dont know what theyre talking about. Id give it to Marty personally.

hardcoretom21 71 Report post Posted April 24, 2008 Umm Young guns, Dats has had the best offensive year of his career, and has the SAME amount of penalty minutes as last year. scrummier? Also, as mentionned on NHL.com, he DESTROYED the league with CLEAN and efficient takeaways.

GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted April 24, 2008 Andrew Peters should have been nominated, since he made a transformation from being an enforcer, to being a sissy.

Turkey 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2008 Pavel's changes this year are ideal because he's playing at the same high level, hitting more, getting in the faces of opponents more and NOT taking any more penalties than he did before.
Kira 451 Report post Posted April 24, 2008 I went back and did a little digging. The last time a player won the Byng three times in a row was back in the 1930's. Pasha could do something no one has done in over 70 years. I don't care what anyone says, that is quite an honor if he does it. I say congrats to Pasha, and now let's see if he gets a Selke nomination, which he really deserves.

GoalieManPat 1,007 Report post Posted April 24, 2008 I dunno. Dats really seemed to have a more ornery side to him. Granted thats not to say he was out there McSorley home run swinging people but he was a little rougher this year. In a smart not to get a penalty way. Wings_Dynasty 267 Report post Posted April 24, 2008 Datsyuk in a walk. Here is an NHL.com article about the players and their stats. Dats dominates all.
lfd250 1 Report post Posted April 24, 2008 Didn't read the article, so this may be covered. Dats didn't get the tv on the east coast like the others. This would be my only worry.
Yzerfan1999 81 Report post Posted April 24, 2008 (edited) I was reading the comments on the TSN page for this and someone pointed out the Kyle Wellwood had 0 PIMs in 59 games this year. That guy is so soft. EDIT - He didn't have any PIMS in 48 games last year either...wow 107 games played 0 penalties. He also played two seasons in the minors for Windsor with no penalties either. Whats with that? Total career stats 14PIMS in 189 games. Gross - I just can't respect a player who doesn't show at least SOME emotion under SOME circumstance. Wellwood is a sissy! Nero 20 Report post Posted April 24, 2008 I was reading the comments on the TSN page for this and someone pointed out the Kyle Wellwood had 0 PIMs in 59 games this year. That guy is so soft. It's based on sportsmanship and skill. Kyle Wellwood has got 21 points this season. All of the finalists have at least 80 points.

I know what its based on - sorry, I wasn't implying that he should win it. I was just thinking about the fewest minor penalties per games played.

Also, as mentionned on NHL.com, he DESTROYED the league with CLEAN and efficient takeaways. Sorry but where do offensive career years = Lady Byngs? Thats what I thought. He may have "destroyed the league with clean takeaways" but my point is that in years past ONE roughing penalty negated your chances for the Lady Byng, let alone getting involved in some scrums after the whistle. Way to get your panties all in a bunch. God forbid somebody somebody take something away from winning the beloved Lady Byng!
