ive been looking around to see any updates on the injured Avs, and i cant find any.

so if you know any injury news about Floppa, Wolski, or Hannan, id like to know.

to me, Hannan looked badly hurt last game from the Shinguard Assassin's ™ wrister right into his foot. he could not put any weight on it at all - im just wondering if it was merely the sting of the shot or something more.

I hope its not as bad as it looked. I dont want to play a deflated Avs team. I want everyone in the lineup. I would like it better if we won and beat their A team, rather than a deflated B team.

With that said, i hope Floppa is broken for good hahaha. I just dont like the guy. But Wolski, Hannah Theodore...even floppa....I hope its not to serious, feel better and get back in the game soon!

Anyone have an update?

I think Hannan returned and finished out the game because he had 18+ minutes of ice time for the game. No idea about the other two.

off topic but your avatar kicks some major ass.i now have a new found love for the winged wheel being a target sight.and after i picked this one up i was thinking of what yours looks like in my head.with it being trnsparnet locking on a avalanche player.i have no photoshop skills so i can only take what i get.i need me some sort of t-shirt with this target logo.

Sounds like Wolski will be back, but gotta love the secrecy that is the NHL Playoffs and injuries.

Avs' Wolski hurt in first period

Wojtek Wolski was injured after a collision between teammate Ruslan Salei and Detroit's Johan Franzen, when Franzen was pushed into Wolski.

Wolski appeared to twist a leg in the collision, walked gingerly to the dressing room and didn't return. The Avs called it an "upper body" injury

"He'll be evaluated more (today), but we're hopeful he'll be able to play,"

Hannan seemed to be skating fine later in the game..

And Forsberg.. who knows with that guy. I bet he plays limited minutes tomorrow and is probably out again by Game 4, haha.

*EDIT* just saw this quote from Quenneville-

"Jose was feeling better before the game and wanted to play," Quenne- ville said. When the coach took Theodore out, "we sent him back to the hotel, and I'm sure he's not feeling too good right now." Both Theodore and Forsberg are day to day, hour to hour.

Forsberg and Wolski both are NOT on the ice for today's practice.

Wolski is interesting, considering it's an "upper body" injury. Forsberg not being on the ice is not surprising at all.

I thought I saw Franzen's skate hit him in the back when he crashed into him. I don't think Floppa will take a practice until they get back to CO.

Wolski will most likely be out the rest of the series with an upper body injury. This is too bad for the Avs as he is a real threat offensively and rounded out the Sakic-Brunette line perfectly.

I wouldn't get too excited though as they are probably going to go with Jaroslav Hlinka now who was the Czech elite leagues (best league in Europe) top scorer. He hasn't been great this season, but mostly because of being shuffled around. He is a fast skater with incredible stick handling and great playmaking ability. His only issue is his size and he does seem to be pushed around a bit out there. It will be interesting to see how he fits in.

Colorado Avalanche forward Wojtek Wolski will not play in Game 2 against the Detroit Red Wings and likely will miss the rest of the second-round series because of an upper-body injury.

Wolski was hurt in Detroit's 4-3 win Thursday night.

Star forward Peter Forsberg, who was scratched from the series opener with a groin injury, is questionable for Game 2.

Avalanche coach Joel Quenneville expects Jose Theodore to play Saturday after being pulled and sent to the hotel during Game 1 because he was sick.

From Macomb Daily reporter Chuck Pleiness ...

Peter Forsberg and Wojtek Wolski are not on the ice. Goalie Jose Theodore is practicing.

The injuries to Forsberg (groin) and Wolski (upper body) could be devastating for the Avalanche.

POST-PRACTICE UPDATE:

According to coach Joel Quennville, Forsberg is questionable for tomorrow. Forsberg says he's day-to-day.

Wolski out indefinitely. Quenneville said he's unlikely to return in series.

Theodore will start Game 2.

I never like seeing injuries on any team. Last series when Arnott got a concussion during the celebration of a goal was really too bad. I've always been anti-Floppa though.

The Wolski injury was a double wammy. His own guy takes him out (they both tried to check Franzen)... and we go in and score.

I thought it was funny that moron Emrick didn't see what happened in any of the replays... then realized late in the game that Wolski was out and he was being told it happened during a goal. It was plain as day what happened. I hate Emrick.

Too bad for the Avs. I always like to have full teams play eachother (which almost never happens) it seems to make the series and the matchup more enjoyable but it is nice to see other players step up (like Abdelkader did for us).

Amusing fact:

Jiri Hudler and Wojtek Wolski are similar players with similar levels of skill.

Yet posters on LGW act as if losing Wolski is a huge blow to the Avs. Those same posters also say that the Avs have a better top-6 than the Wings. Yet they also say that Hudler should be scratched in favor of Downey.

Am I missing something here?

What do you base your analysis of their similarities on? I have seen both players for quite some time and thing they are pretty different when it comes to styles. Wolski has much better stick handling skills, has a better shot, better moves, but Hudler is quicker and better at finding openings. Wolski is a much bigger loss than Hudler would be.

Great point! It just goes back to so many Wings fans expecting so much from their players - seen so many great players for so long there is the feeling that all we should have are superstars. Huds is great (especially for the $880,000 he was paid this year). I think he will continue to improve and be a great asset for this team for a long time.

Jiri Hudler

13:10 per game (1065 total mins)

81 GP, 13-29-42, +11.

25 hits, 8 Blocks, 17-21 Give/Take

131 shots, 9.9%

Wojtek Wolski

15:55 per game (1181 total mins, or 11% more than Hudler)

77 GP, 18-30-48, +10.

54 hits, 21 Blocks, 37-40 Give/Take

158 shots, 11.4%

Over Wolski's minutes, Hudler would have:

14-32-46, +12.

Wolski may have the size, but he is not physical (similar 'hits' stats) and he has a worse give/take ratio than Hudler.

As for their overall stats? They have VERY similar stat lines, meaning they have a similar effect on the game. Hudler, of course, is usually the best player on his line, while Wolski is often the WORST player on his line.

Hudler is AT MINIMUM a comparable player. I never said they play the same style beyond saying they were 'similar players' in that they are capable shooters and playmakers who do not play a terribly physical game and are average defensively, and that they play at a similar skill level. You can't refute it, it's the truth.
