Nothing more to say than my emoticon already has. If there's seriously anyone that wants that becuase "it would be good for the sport", they deserve to be hit. It's about the best *team*, not the most advertised player.

I would want that if it meant the league's survival

I totally agree. Personally, I would think if the NHL is pushing for someone to win, they'd want Ovechkin over Crosby. I'd stop watching if the league starting pushing the "prettiest" player

Meh, it's a business, I can understand their motives even if I don't agree with them

Since when are we talking the league's survival? It's not as though they're struggling. A $39 million salary cap in the 05/06 season will likely grow to $57 million for the 08/09 season.

Oh I understand it's a business and I can understand them wanting a certain player to get more face because of them winning the Cup. However, when that comes at the expense of fair play and fair competition, the league will be signing it's death warrant. It's a business, but it's also a sport.

Complete agreement. When/if they really start pushing that, there's nothing that can justify it, even if it does give hockey some more mainstream face time. Sooner or later, it will start looking like basketball with that sort of attitude... and then you get the sort of officiating that comes along with that, as if our officiating isn't troubled enough to begin with.

i dont understand why so many people are so convinced here that if the stanley cup final is DET/PIT that the Wings will take it and shut down Crosby, Malkin and Hossa.

to be honest, if thats the final im a bit nervous. i dun see how the Wings could shut down those type of players / Osgood making a lot of saves.

the Pens have been scoring a lot too...

Weird game this one..

Biron wasn't as sharp as usual..

True, he didn't look very focused, but then again he had almost zero defensive support... I guess it's to be expected, it's the East...

Lidstrom and Rafalski can shutdown Malkin or Crosby and Hossa, and Kronwall / Stuart can limit the other line. I'm not too nervous about that series, the big things the Wings have that the teams they have faced so far don't are defense. Not to mention a damn good offense on top of that.

Aslong as Osgood makes the big saves that he has been i won't be worried.

The Penguins have yet to face up against a competent defense this playoffs. Detroit has arguably the best d-man squad in the league, if anyone can shut down Pittsburgh's offensive depth it's them.

We'd own the Pens. We got two defence pairs then can work wonders shutting down their top two lines, with a 3rd pair that won't lay over and die for them either. Not to mention the amounts of two way forwrads we have on this team. Eithger way, if we play the Pens, they won't know what hit them. As long as we reach the finals, the cup is ours. That is common sense. Just look how frustrated the Pens got in game 4 VS the Rags.... We'd have them frustrated like that pretty well every game. They can't do jack s***e against us.... Wings in 5 if they get past the Stars.... 2 wins at home, the split n Pittsburgh. then the cup win at home in game 5.

Honestly I wouldn't be too worried about Crosby. He plays with Hossa and Dupuis, who is not exactly another sniper. Malkin, Malone and Sykora are the other big threat for them. Lids, Raffi, Kronner and Stewie can shut them down and frustrate them just like they have everyone else so far. Get traffic infront of Fleury with Homer and Mule, and the goals would continue to go in. Pens have yet to face a complete defense, Flyers lost Timonen, so that just helps the Pens out. Besides, the Pens have yet to face adversity, and Crosby and Malkin have already gotten frustrated against the Rangers, so I don't think it would take much to get them off their game.

wow, I a lot of people in here are underestimating Philly, Pittsburgh AND Dallas.

People, can we talk about the SCF when it's decided what teams will play eachother?
