Former Red Wings defensemen Jiri Fischer skated around passing pucks before and after practice on Tuesday at Joe Louis Arena.

Just thought this was cool. I apologize if it's already been discussed. :)

He always at the home games also in the press box section that Stevie and Holland are usually in. He towers over the guys!! I also saw him being interviewed between the suites at yesterdays game by FSN guys I think.

I do believe its Abdelkader.

He was doing alot of one-on-one time with Jakub Kindl last week Thursday when I was there watching the practice and interviewing the "Black Aces" at the Joe.....

He really still has his skills, he was explaining what he wanted done, and got the point across really well....Its good seeing him as a developer of player personel...we see him down in GR alot working with the youngin's (c:

Awesome, its kind of sad seeing him with no gear on!

What a good picture though, good to see him still around the team.

Is there any chance he will ever play again? Or what?

Is there a POSSIBILITY? Yes. They could figure out how to make his heart safe. And certainly he would have a place.

Will he? No. There's just too much of a risk. He has too much to live for to risk losing it for a game. Barring any sudden breakthroughs in the medical field, he's done. So sad. He was going to be one of the greats, I always felt.

It won't take a medical breakthrough curing his issues. All it would take is a definitive doctor's assessment saying that playing hockey did not increase the risk of a relapse. In other words; if he faces the same danger on the ice that he would sitting on his couch, they may let him back on the ice as it isn't an increased danger.

As far as Fischer being great...I thought he was our best defenseman to the point in the season he went down. And he would be better now. We wouldn't have Brad Stuart...but we likely end up with the Cup in 2007 if Fischer is still around.

Fischer: Future asst. coach, perhaps even farther in the future head coach? Well, we can always hope, leadership seems to be a good role for him and I'd like to think he has a future in hockey one way or another.
