Hockeytown What?!!!

Roster for game 5?

Gut reaction is to sit Helm and Lilja for Homer and Cheli.

But Pittsburgh isn't going to hand the Cup over to the Wings.

I would think that Cheli will do all he can to dress for the game, I wouldn't be surprised to see him get the nod, Stuart and Lilja haven't been rock solid and Cheli couldn't do much worse.

I expect Babs to keep the lineup the same, inserting Homer in for Mac as the only change.

Why should Helm sit? As a "reward" for his stellar playoffs?

I didn't say Helm should sit, just that it's a gut reaction. If Helm were to sit, I would see it as more of a reward for Mac who has been with the team longer, ect.

Barring injury to Lilja or Lebda, there won't be any change made there.

If Homer's ready to go, then Mac sits for him.

Babs is as big a believer of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" as it gets. Zero chance of him taking away speedy youngsters to make way for slower veterans just so they can get one last hurrah. If (please notice, Hockey Gods, I said if) Detroit wins the cup, they'll be on the ice in full gear celebrating with the rest of the team. (In case you don't remember, Jiri Fischer was suspended by the league for game 5 of the '02 Cup Finals, but was on the ice just like everyone else for the celebration). So don't worry, they'll be there with their teammates for all of it, regardless of if they play or not.

question is does chelios get his name on the cup knwoing he didnt play 1 game in the finals. Because I thought the rule is you have to play 1 game in the finals to get your name on the cup. Thats why Bowman put Ramsey in for game 4 against the Flyers.

I thought you only had to play half the season -- meaning Kopecky and Downey will have their names on the Cup.

41 regular season games OR 1 SCF game. Petitions may be made for unusual circumstances, but rarely are.

I think we have all our guys covered. AFAIK, Mac was the only one who hadn't hit 41 regular, and he played last game. If anyone knows differently, please correct me.

Side note: I wonder if Homer hadn't been injured if they would have put Mac in for a game to qualify him. I think they would have.

Mac played in game one because Franzen wasn't back yet. He didn't need to play yesterday to get his name on the cup :D

Babcock said no when directly asked if Chelios will be in the lineup. That doesn't mean he won't change his mind, but i'd say the only change will be Homer for McCarty. And Helm will be in the lineup that's for sure.

Gotta suck for Meech.. I thought he played great when he was in but just 9 games short?... Tough..
