Slave 31 Report post Posted June 13, 2008 only looked at the first couple of pages of threads and didn't see this one so just thought i would ask you guys what you think. Not sure who i would pick, probably either hudler (i think he is an awesome player who gets nowhere near enough icetime) or maybe downy when he was in the lineup, i think he gave our players a big boost by being on the bench and from what i have seen just his demeaner in the locker room and his personality in general
DatsMyWings13 4 Report post Posted June 13, 2008 Hudler With out a doubt!
Wing Nut 19 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2008 Huds He had a couple of REALLY GOOD Goals I believe one was a Game winner.
Donaldjr2448 43 Report post Posted June 13, 2008 My vote is going to Franzen! Thge only reason is because no one (except us loyals here on the site) realized what this guy did for us this season! Huds played well, but wasn't consistant, The Mule always seemed to come up with a huge goal when we needed one this season. I'm also going to give a second place vote to Rafalski. Cicada 4 Report post Posted June 13, 2008 Hudler, no doubt.. him and Kronwall make that 2nd PP unit tick
NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted June 13, 2008 Huds He had a couple of REALLY GOOD Goals I believe one was a Game winner. If you're referring to the finals, he scored the winner in Game 4. Early third period goal.
WingsallTheway 383 Report post Posted June 13, 2008 off topic but, datsmywings, i have that puck in your display picture haha, just wanted to share that
FinRedWing 172 Report post Posted June 13, 2008 I kept trying to nominate someone else than Hudler, but couldn't think of anyone more deserving.
RWK23 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2008 I probably would have said Huds as well, but I'll be creative and go in a different direction. Dan Cleary. He's an excellent PK man and two-way forward who was on pace for a 30 goal, 60 point season before the errant Samuelsson slap shot. The story behind his rise to the NHL is amazing and interesting as well. He was the golden boy, #13 overall draft pick out of the OHL. He struggled, worked hard, and became a stalwart on a Stanley Cup championship team. He struggled a little bit when he came back from injury and throughout the playoffs, but I have no doubt that he'll be alright.

Ozzy318 3 Report post Posted June 13, 2008 Huds and Kronwell. Huds for his clutch play. We can allways seem to count on Huds to be in the right place at the right time minus the last two minutes of game 6... Kronwell is our must underrated player defensively. barabbas16 499 Report post Posted June 13, 2008 (edited) As far as the people on this board are concerned, the answer is Mikael Samuelsson. Edited June 13, 2008 by barabbas16
Opie 308 Report post Posted June 13, 2008 As far as the people on this board are concerned, the answer is Mikael Samuelsson. You know I had that typed out, but seeing as I defended him all season I knew I would get a bunch of s*** and I was too interested in the Prestigious award thread to defend myself in this one as well! zata40 3 Report post Posted June 13, 2008 #1 - huds #2 - kronwall #3/4 - chelli and maltby For huds and Kronwall the reasons have already been stated above. AS for chelli and maltby, I think it's very easy for many of us to overlook them. They both work hard at keeping the puck out of our own end, and both give great support to those players who have more of a scoring touch. Obviously they don't put much points on the board, but they keep a hell of a lot off from the opposing teams.

OsGOD 3 Report post Posted June 13, 2008 Lilja. I'm only half joking. If you read "his" facebook... he says he was the most important reason for the Wings winning the cup... So of course that makes him the most underrated player. however me personally I didn't know there was anything better than Sucks Ass to rate him... I thought that was the BEST you could rate him... Oopsy i guess
Mjolman 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2008 HUDS, before sammy scored our first goal of the finals huds battled with every player the pens had out there and won, and he was the smallest guy on the ice. Love that guy

GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted June 13, 2008 It has to be Kronwall. Everyone knew he was good, but no one thought he'd be as good as he turned out to be all season and in the playoffs. The other guys were on and off all year, while he was solid throughout the entire season.
Earthhuman 8 Report post Posted June 13, 2008 (edited) After this thread, Hudler is no longer under-rated. He's right where he should be. In light of that, I have to say Kirk Maltby. EDIT: By the league, Zetterberg is most under-rated. Well, maybe. Edited June 13, 2008 by Earthhuman
