DatsyukownzU13 1 Report post Posted June 22, 2008 How did he even get to the point where some people consider him credible? I honestly don't have a real problem with any hockey analysts besides him. The guy just seems so ignorant sometimes. Did he play in the NHL?

Doc Holiday 0 Report post Posted June 22, 2008 (edited) Why should anyone even care what this one guy has to say about who he thinks are the "monsters" of the NHL? The Wings have the trophies to prove they have the most monsters out of any team in the league, so this opinion is crap. Can we just get Thorne and Clement back on the air already? KronwallCRUNCH 5 Report post Posted June 22, 2008 Where the hell did he get these names? Is this a joke? Steve Valiquette? There wasn't a goalie that performed better than Steve Valiquette?

I personally don't care one way or the other about his opinion or am pulling my hair out over it, because... (1) I know the Red Wings won it all and have plenty of hardware/talent etc. (2) Not everybody has to hump the Red Wings' legs (3) I rarely take opinions or columns that serious to begin with (4) This looks to be more of a "power forward" or rugged-type big defensemen list, not necessarily a listing of more "talented" type players. Nothing to get our panties in a bunch over.
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted June 23, 2008 It's just Pierres opinion. Look at the trend, one European on the whole list. So dont expect any Red Wings to be on it. But LOL @ Greg Zanon being on there, he's useless .
daniel1 32 Report post Posted June 23, 2008 Aaaaaaaaaand that will mark the first and last time that Vincent Lecavalier and Greg Zanon will ever appear on the same list of anything anywhere anytime. Sometimes McGuire tries to be so smart he actually wraps his brain all the way back around to 0.
PaVel DaTsYuK fan13 0 Report post Posted June 23, 2008 Sometimes Pierre McGuire thinks he's so smart, that he will say stupid things on purpose because he feels incompetent when he uses logic like us mere mortals.
Yzerfan1999 81 Report post Posted June 23, 2008 First off, I am pretty sure this was done BEFORE the playoffs started, as I saw them reveal it live almost two months ago on TSN. Secondly, guys like Valiquette are on the team because its supposed to be realistic - he is McGuire's favourite backup goalie. Also, for those calling for more Wings on it, read the text above the team; "They are hard charging. They are abrasive. They are fearless. They are equal parts perspiration and inspiration. They are the consummate team player." Sure, Zetterberg could have been on it and probably should have been - but Lidstrom didn't record a hit in the playoffs till the 3rd round. The team is about toughness and grit - thats what his monsters are. He isn't claiming they are all the best players in the league nor is that his purpose in creating the team. Its just his idea of a good, tough, gritty, yet somewhat semi-plausible lineup - hence the third and fourth lines and the backup goalie. Its an All-MONSTER team - not the All-STAR team. Anomalously 0 Report post Posted June 23, 2008 Yzerfan -- was going to say the same thing. Holmstrom is the #1 Wings candidate, Cleary and Kronwall probably #2. Not Zetterberg, not Lidstrom.

Yeah, didn't even think of them - but its safe to say that team would have been a lot different if McGuire had done it after the playoffs.

redwinger4747 6 Report post Posted June 23, 2008 Steve Valiquette?????? wtf HAHAHA!! The Rangers backup over Nabby, Luongo, Kipper, and maybe....hmmmm....Lundqvist, the starter?! Wow, no further comment necessary. Besides Z and Pav, he didn't even put Malkin there, instead going with DAVID CLARKSON with a whopping 22pts on the season. Hmm....... BTW who the F is Steve Valiquette?!?! He was being neither. It isn't completely an "All-Star Team", it is more of a role-player type/tough guy type team.
