Chelios57 31 Report post Posted September 23, 2008 I was surfing on a quite respectable site (JerseyDatabase.com), and I came across this intriguing (sp?) page. If you scroll down to the Hawks and Wings jerseys on the page, it shows jerseys set to debut in 2009. The jersey's are RBK style and it appears as if this might be the ones they will wear in the Winter Classic. If I were to guess I would say this is about 60% certain (but that's just my opinion). Possible Wings/Hawks Winter Classic jersey's? *as always take this for what you will, it certainly isn't official

Cern 0 Report post Posted September 23, 2008 (edited) Interesting catch. Personally I'm a bit disappointed about the Wings' version - I'm hoping they make use of the old-school winged wheel (bigger wheel, smaller wing), as is they're too samey to what they already wear, but again these are far from official. Cern 0 Report post Posted September 23, 2008 Icethetics hasn't picked up on this yet, amazingly. Not that I mind too much, the guy in charge of it is a Lightning fan with possibly the worst aesthetic taste I've ever seen.
Rice 42 Report post Posted September 23, 2008 Nice find. I just figured they'd be using the "candy cane" jerseys but I'm a big fan of the ones on that site. Haven't heard anything about this jersey anywhere else. Weird. Icethetics hasn't picked up on this yet, amazingly. Not that I mind too much, the guy in charge of it is a Lightning fan with possibly the worst aesthetic taste I've ever seen. I actually just e-mailed him to ask him about it. I frequent that site and I am amazed at the s*** he thinks looks good - bad taste for sure.
Sgt Sharpie 4 Report post Posted September 23, 2008 i always thought they'd use this one http://www.icehockeyjersey.com/assets/imag...ockeyJersey.jpg pretty sure we didnt wear those for very long. not 'classic wings' like the old style winged wheel is. pavyaz19 1 Report post Posted September 23, 2008 that jersey is really cool... but I'd rather have the candy-cane one that just says "Detroit"... so classic. winter classic.
Rice 42 Report post Posted September 23, 2008 Here's what Chris from Icethetics had to say: Anybody can make an assumption and that's all these guys are doing. The teams haven't announced what they'll be wearing. I wouldn't be surprised if they haven't even made a decision on it yet. Stay tuned to Icethetics. As soon as I know something, you'll know. Thanks!
Doggy 130 Report post Posted September 23, 2008 Has Detroit ever used a jersey with a lace at the top? They're the best.

Guest Four Report post Posted September 23, 2008 I better see candy cane or the old wings logo when the outdoor game comes around..
norrisnick 1 Report post Posted September 23, 2008 This one beats the hell out of the candy cane, IMO. '26-'27 Detroit Cougars. The first time there was an NHL team in Detroit.
Wingnut7781 0 Report post Posted September 23, 2008 (edited) I would prefer to see them in the Cougars jersey, without those pants. It just has a more historical feel. Especially when you have two of the Original 6 playing outdoors. As a side note. That is the only jersey i play in on NHL 2K9. Shutemdown 23 Report post Posted September 23, 2008 I think those 2009 DRW jerseys are horrible looking. They're so bland, and they're already EXACTLY like the ones we wear only without color on the shoulders. WTF?
JayUp88 1 Report post Posted September 23, 2008 I truly hope this isn't true, between the old school D or the candy cane jersey's they have somethig better to pick from then just a normal looking jersey.
Guest GordieSid&Ted Report post Posted September 23, 2008 i always thought they'd use this one http://www.icehockeyjersey.com/assets/imag...ockeyJersey.jpg They should use that one b/c it absolutely kick's ass. However, I wonder if it would look crazy out there if the Hawks use their mulit-striped version as well. Might look too similar despite the obvious black and white overall color of the respective jerseys. When's the last time the wings used this version? I can't remember seeing it forever in a game. Rmac111 2 Report post Posted September 23, 2008 (edited) Those sweaters where both used together during the the NHL's 75th aniversay season (92) and they looked great. That supposesed new design is downright awful. There is absolutely no way the Wings will introduce a new jersey for the winter classic. You know it, I know it, we all know it. A retro jersey is very much a possibility, but a new design NO WAY! Edited September 23, 2008 by Rmac111
