He rewards Cleary. I swear to god sometimes I dont understand Babcocks moves. The nearest comparison I could come up with to that was the benching of Fischer in 2003, when Fischer outplayed several defensemen who were not benched in that series. The only justification for it is if he wanted to move Hudler to Filppula's line and try a Hudler/Filppula/Samuelsson combination and it was not as a reward for Cleary. It looks like the Leafs have been watching tape on the Wings since the schedule was released, looking for weaknesses. Ron Wilson knows he has a young team and that a win over Detroit would get them off to a great start mentally. In turn, the Wings have been thrown off a bit because the Leafs are executing well.
