In terms of the whining/emotion deal, my defintion is probably too generic/simplistic, but I don't take much stock into the whining card, because every athlete regardless of the sport is going to whine on the bench or to the refs or to the media at some point whenever they are frustrated.

I think Wings fans will be a little bit more biased in a negative way towards Crosby/Malkin and Pitt company because the Wings recently played the Penguins in a playoff series, so at the very least a short-term rivalry of a few games was created.

As for Ovechkin and Malkin and their own conflict, I don't really know what I would tell Malkin. If they have some biterness towards each other, work it out somehow. If it isn't worked out, expect more yapping or potential big hits or whatever between the two, whether it is fair or unfair.

Pierre Labrun commented on HNIC a few weeks ago that there is a legit hatred between AO and Malkin. From what he's heard, it could lead to a serious rift with the 2010 Russian Olympic team.

There's competition, but the way AO acts everytime they play the Penguins is beyond competitive sportsmanship.

I base my opinons of the PittsburgH Penguins off of last years WHINEfest in the Finals. After every game all Therrien did was cry about the refs.

Obviously you dont see it because all fans are homers, but the Pens are whiners. Still this year I notice it. Crosby whining to refs while laying on the ground.

I think people here mostly just hate Crosby, to an irrational degree. So by extension they hate Pittsburgh. Though honestly your coach didn't help a whole lot during the finals last year. I've honestly never seen a coach whine so much about officiating. It was embarrassing. So it sets this atmosphere of whining for everything Pens related.

But like I said, I think most of it is spillover from Crosby hate.

And some people may flame away because they assume you are here trolling, but I think it's good to have people who are fans of other teams on here (as long as they realize it is a Wings site, after all). We've got some great members who are mostly fans of another team, so welcome, and you may have to duck and cover from time to time.

I think Crosby earned the wrath of many a Wings (and hockey) fan when he downplayed the efforts of his opponents and chose to use the referees as an excuse rather than admit that he and the rest of his team had been outplayed. Now as far as I know the refs don't take shots at goalies so when the Wings outshot the Pens by a wide margin throughout the series it is tough to give any credibility to Crosby or Therien when they whine how the refs were the reason they lost.

Crosby also slammed Z when he was asked about Hank's PK on the 5 on 3 in the finals when he said that "he didn't think he (Hank) had done anything that any other player would have done" when it was clear that Hank had done an extraordinary job on the kill. That point came up not just here but also several other non-Detroit national media publications.

Crosby's made his own bed in the NHL so now he gets to lie in it.

that's the point and I would also add Sindy supporting his coach's baby whining all the way

whom I can't stand and Crosby being overhyped and acting like a baby when he knows he

can duck out rather than do big man's job.

though, I really don't like AO take in Malkin's case. Malkin is babyish at times (thanks to

the very same whiny coach) but he's a world class player who plays terrific hockey. I absolutely

love Ovechkin and am even OK if he holds some personal vendetta against Malkin. but when

it comes to national team... sorry guys but this is the moment when you can't restore to

such crap. you're playing for your country and for millions fans on your home soil. this means

much more than your personal feelings towards each other
