Are you talking about the huge open ice hit??? That looked pretty damn clean to me.

It's a good hit, but scope out where the puck is. I don't think Ott ever touches it.

Edit: maybe he does... I can't really see the puck that well.

f*** these announcers dude,

talking s*** about ott all game where he was just trying to get a spark for his team

then he talks s*** about niskanen(sp) because he comes to the aid of his teammate under a pile of 5 bruins....he says that he went looking to start a fight and all he wanted to do was break up the gangbang then he starts talkin bout how hes getting his "pretty little face" beat up

Damn do I wish I woulda watched that game... I have a feeling there will be a few of them this year. Rivalries are starting to heat up, and if Anaheim keeps up their s*** against us we'll prolly see that in one of our games. Glad the Bruins took it to em, need more of that on guys that dish out cheap shots for sure.

Very few hockey announcers aren't complete imbecile homers. The game is impossible to watch in those instances, unless it's on mute.

Shane Hnidy acted like a little ***** fighting a non-fighter. This guy has limited his fighting in recent years, and now he pulls this crap. Ott and Avery are just pests and it's good to see them get beat up from time to time. However, they are good for the game, despite what others say. It adds some more excitement and spice.

Players who show no regard for the safety of others on the ice do not add "spice" and "excitement" to the game.

Most entertaining game of the year so far. The Bruins are the toughest team in hockey, contrary to popular belief that it's Anaheim. I love watching any games they play, always great hockey, tight games that have so much intensity.

You know what, I'm starting to think that Dallas are the jokes of the NHL. 2 of the biggest cowards/pests/agitators in the league, Mike Ribiero, etc. I cant stand them. As far as Ott and Avery are concerned, I feel the same as Don Cherry, these guys belong in the league, but there cowards, who are gonna get theres one day.

Correct me if I'm really off-base with this, but was I the only one's who thought that 2 of Ott's hits weren't cheap at all? He just finished two hits. The only debateable one was the low hit on Yelle, which I see go uncalled pretty frequently. I still hate the guy and know he probably did stuff I didnt see, but the Bruins weren't exactly saints themselves. Ference cheapshotted Ott, Hnidy was owning Niskanen who doesn't even know how to fight. Those announcers sounded like immature biased high schoolers.

Overall bad performance.

I'm with you. You have no obligation whatsoever to fight after a clean hit, no matter how big it is. Ott was playing the role of the agitator PERFECTLY. Lay on a huge hit, then try to draw a penalty and don't drop your gloves. Bush league move by Hnidy, too.

And yeah, those announcers were absolutely pitiful.

except, you don't usually call jumping on other player (with both feet off the ice) a clean hit.

this is plain and simple a cheapshot. period. and you ought to get your share of s*** for this.

yes, I understand what agitator is, but I'm also of firm belief this type of players deserve

good beating once in a while because ultimately they are those who take the appeal out of

the game and are responsible for most bad stuff that happen on the ice. it's one thing to be

a man and face the other guy and another just go after and sneak-attack him.

and yes, I include Maltby on this list too. I know he's needed by this team but I'm OK when he

gets his ass handed because this is what he's earning most of the time. if you gave me a rule

set that would free NHL from such guys I'd clearly embrace this idea. I'd rather watch skilled

guys play than pests hunting them. it's that simple :)

I just said he had no obligation to fight. If someone wants to jump him and beat him and put his team down a man, that's fine. Because it is definitely nice to see pests fed their lunches every now and then.

i'm not going to say whether ott has an obligation to fight or not after his hits (clean or otherwise), but it was still hilarious to see him running away from the fights. in the clip, i think it was the second time someone tried to fight him, he looked like he was being chased by a rabid animal or something. hilarious.

go bruins.

"there he is, there's brave Steve Ott"...lol

Anyways, when do we play Dallas? Or, even better, When do the Bruins play Dallas again? hah

They don't play again this year unless they both make it to the SCF - that probably had something with the way Dallas was playing.

Steve Ott is a punk ***** and so is Avery. Ott is going to get his someday if he keeps on playing the way he does. I don't know how anyone watching those clips can think that those were clean plays.

The announcers went a bit overboard with their call of the action...

Wow, definately the best hockey clip ive watched this season. Amazing s***. Just loved how the Bruins jumped on avery after that hit on Lucic. What a team effort. All 5 bruins threw down and beat the hell out of the stars. You gotta love that stuff.

Modano's comments on the game.

"Tonight, it was idiotic and stupid,'' Stars center Mike Modano said when asked what the team identity was. ``It was one of the most embarrassing things I've seen. If that's what we're going for, then they need to find me an office job.''

That's a great quote!

I didn't know Madonna was still playing in the NHL.

She's probably still mad about Tippett removing the captaincy and giving it to Morrow.

There's two important parts of the quote that were left out:

Here's Mike Modano after the penalty filled game in which Steve Ott and Sean Avery were jawing with officials and fans:

``It was dumb penalties, dumb situations, that's kind of been the trend all season,'' Modano said. ``There's no mental toughness. We're allowing the refs to get involved in the game with and spending more energy on them than the details of winning the game.''

The original poster made it sound like Modano was complaining about all the fights. He wasn't. He was calling out his team for getting their ass handed to them.

Steve Ott and Sean Avery can cost their team games by pulling some of these stunts. It's no surprise that every team Avery has played any sort of real role for has called him a detriment and had no problem getting rid of him. Effective at times, but when it gets down to the important moments they'll always fall short.

Mike Modano's opinion holds more water than Ott's or Avery's ever will.
