Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted November 9, 2008 He realizes Franzen is getting healthy, and fighting is the way to keep a spot on the bottom lines on this team. Which is a good thing.
edicius 3,269 Report post Posted November 9, 2008 That was a hilarious fight though. If you can even call it a fight. D-Mac got in a couple good shots.
b.shanafan14 733 Report post Posted November 9, 2008 He seems to be getting back into form and its really the only way he can keep a spot. If he keeps it up, which I hope he does cause it really gave them a boost tonite, I may be eating some delicious crow.

BlueMonk 102 Report post Posted November 9, 2008 FSDetroit voting for star of the game narrowly went to Hossa. 2nd was Mac, 3rd Ozzie. Detroiters love our fights.
Doc Holiday 0 Report post Posted November 9, 2008 Mac got in two nice shots to the face at the start of the fight.
Icesurfer 75 Report post Posted November 9, 2008 In the NHL there were: 497 fights in 2006-2007 664 fights in 2007-2008 And on pace for 845 projected fights for 2008-2009. Fans love it and it sells the game I guess. Always seems to make the highlights anyway.
CrossoverThrash 0 Report post Posted November 9, 2008 Dmac landed all the punches in the fight tonight, i dont see why people are bashing him for it
e_prime 1,936 Report post Posted November 9, 2008 By no means an impressive fight, it was better than the last couple outings for McCarty. As mentioned, a couple nice shots in early. You could tell that he didn't want it to last as long as it did, as it went from grappling match to hugfest on McCarty's end. Clarkson was able to land his only good shots of the fight near the end, when Mac was clearly spent... but at least Mac didn't stop swinging.
Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted November 9, 2008 Even though it was mostly a lot of grappling, I got into it. I was cheering along and ready to see some blood. I haven't seen too many hockey games over the last year, I miss fights. Nuts to being a Wings fan.
The Mule 0 Report post Posted November 9, 2008 I'm just glad to see that D-Mac isn't afraid to drop the gloves. Long live McCarty.
Chunkylover 26 Report post Posted November 9, 2008 I was on the road listening to the ticket and Ken Kal made the fight sound epic. When I got home and saw the replays it didn't seem that great, but 1:35 is a pretty long grapple-fest especially since they did get some swings in toward the end. Mac needs to get his stamina up because he was gassed.
Bry-O 0 Report post Posted November 9, 2008 Longest fight EVER! No, but it was a pretty good one, I liked the shot Mac got in when Clarkson was trying to talk to the linesman.
jvxp 0 Report post Posted November 9, 2008 It was a hugging match not a fight and Darren was the better hugger. Downey would have kicked that guys butt.

CrossoverThrash 0 Report post Posted November 9, 2008 Why can't people face the fact that McCarty landed liek 15 punches? Look at 1:05 of the NJ feed, he pops him and that was his 10 punch already, At the end when they were chucking them absolutely none of them landed.

GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted November 9, 2008 Lilja needs to fight in place of McCarty. He would have dropped that fool Clarkson in like 8 seconds, instead of that boring hugfest you saw last night.
esteef 2,679 Report post Posted November 9, 2008 Good job of tying him up by MAC. I was surprised how weak Clarkson looked. MAC's been learning that smothering technique from Downey. Those weren't all hugs! Cheers to "Carts"! esteef

j.hoop 64 Report post Posted November 9, 2008 like ken said last night, we dont necessarily need the fights, but the fans love em and it gives the team a jump. the best part is, mac is having a ball doing it.
norrisnick 1 Report post Posted November 9, 2008 When it happened I made some comment that Mac probably needs to take a shower and a nap as he's probably spent for the game. The fight was 46 seconds from matching the time Darren spent on the ice last night.
CrossoverThrash 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2008 I can see only 2-3 (max) pucnhes landed... watch the detroit feed, it is at the opposite angle, he lands realistically about 10, threw about 15-
