I suppose I'm the only person to notice the current top-five in scoring on the Wings goes:

1. Hossa, 26GP, 15 g-14a-29 pts, +10

2. Zetterberg, 24GP, 12g-13a-25 pts, +3

3. Hudler, 26GP, 12g-12a-24 pts, +0

4. Datsyuk, 26GP, 8g-16a-24 pts, +7

5. Samuelsson 26GP, 5g-16a-21pt, +2

Anyone want to bench Hudler for Downey or McCarty? Because you now, he's clearly not contributing anything. In a week he might be the team scoring leader.

Do you make posts that don't talk about hudler? Jesus christ....

He's contributing plenty. Give the poor guy a break. He's been good, man. So hard on him all the time.

Huh, I hadn't noticed! Now that you mention it, good point: bring back Downey!

I figured it out. It's all a mind game, and we've been sucked in just like they're trying to suck in the rest of the league. They know that being everyone's pick to win means everyone is gunning after you, so they're playing just hard enough to win, (with a few losses thrown in to make it look good) so that everyone will be thinking they've got the Cup Hangover, or whatever. Then, come the playoffs, we'll see the real Red Wings come in and play like they can.

It's a ploy, I tell you! A ploy!

Can't decide whether to not to add this  because I might actually be right.

Hey guys, I went to the game tonight, and I was down by the bench for warm ups and someone threw up their hat, not sure who it was. So Hulder was one of the last guys to come off they ice and I yelled "Jiri, can I have your hat?" he walkled into the tunnel and walked back and handed his stick up. I kinda was letting a little kid grab it and he didn't and it fell. Jiri picked it up and handed it back up and I grabbed it. It was great.

YES!! I posted this line of thinking about 10-12 games in when everyone was going nuts. I agree with your theory, except I said the Wings would break out around the allstar break. Methinks you are a visionary!!

Where's that Hawks poster that was here earlier in the night?

Was thinking the same thing myself.

I was in the car on the way back from the in-laws' house (chicken francaise for dinner, deeeeeeeeelish!) and heard the Zata and Hossa goals on the radio (thank you, XM); they were honestly the highlight of my entire day. Shame I missed hearing the OT and SO, but I'm honestly amazed we won. And you guys here know me well enough...I'm not one of the doomsayers, bandwagoners or what have you. I just thought that after the Blackhawks went up 4-2, this one was over.

We went from a game we SHOULDN'T have lost (2-0) to a game we SHOULD have lost (4-2) and once again squeaked out a win that, considering everything I've read on here (again, didn't see/hear most of it as I was doing painting work in our new house/having dinner at the in-laws') we DESERVED to lose.

Our record IS deceptive. Can this team play as good as their record indicates? Of course. So it's not questioned as much as it should be. But I'm coming around to the way of thinking that our record, great as it is, provides a built-in excuse for, frankly, some really, really s***ty hockey from our guys.

"Well, we're winning hockey games, so who cares in the end, right?"

That may work in the regular season. Check in again in April and see how that goes.

Back to taking apart our bed frame (I'm back in the apartment tonight), discuss amongst yourselves... :P

Okay, wait...now I may come around to THIS way of thinking just to make myself feel less s***ty about this team.

Okay, NOW back to taking apart the bed. :P

I think that I'm starting to fall into the trap that is Marian Hossa.. just as the Pens did.

It's becoming more and more difficult to accept that he will move on after this season. WHAT A FORCE!

Every comment I read of his, I find myself breaking it down into a postitive for the Wings, but I have to stop kiddint myself. It just isn't possible to keep him, right? Aghhh!!

Yep, it gets depressing when you really start thinking about the prospect of him not being here next season. He reminds me so much of Fedorov in his prime. Big, fast, huge shot, good two-way play. He's a lot of fun to watch. Hopefully, he gets what he came here for and we can all have fond memories of his one season here.

You're not the only one who sees Fedorov in Hossa. I saw more than enough in that cocky shootout "shot".

Oh yeah!

OH YEAH!

Detroit can't be CHICAGO

Not with Campbell on defense!

Toews and Kane truly are the best young duo in the league..

Lost your internet connection, did you? It must be something like that. I know you wouldn't only post here when things were going good for your team.

Oh, that guy makes my day. Every game against Chicago I get a nice new PM from him in my inbox. Then dont here from him until the next Hawks game, funny how he has a mouth before the game, but not after

I'm happy we found a way to win, and as far as points go we're 2-0 against the Hawks, but head-to-head we've really only skated to a pair of ties.

I really wasn't pleased with this game. The majority of it the Wings struggled all over the place, offensively and defensively. The defenders (and I will pick on Lebda specifically because I always caught him doing this) seemed to be content just to skate near the attackers rather than hit them when the opportunity came, or tie them up or seal them to the boards or anything. Watching the Hawks run around in circles in our zone cycling the puck was no fun. And I was livid watching Lilja coast back after getting beat on the pinch; while Dano was getting turned inside out and Conklin deked into oblivion, Andreas was strolling over the blue line. :nonono:

Really, the Wings were off the ball for most of the game, then were totally great for 10 minutes to hang on for the win. Their record is great, but their play is still uninspiring. I'll take an ugly win, a comeback bid when I can get them, but to be honest I don't just want to see them win, I want to see them win like the Red Wings.

Totally agree. There's been a lot of skating near the player along the board and trying to pull the puck out with their stick instead of taking the body to seal them off along the boards and really digging in and fighting for the puck. And I don't think it's limited to just the defenseman. Some of the forwards have been guilty of it as well, though Lebda is the master of it.

He scored a nasty one on Brodeur that way. Quick flick of the wrist.

-- 02:00

I immediatley thought it was going to be the same result last night

Not to excuse the Wings poor play against almost everyone but Chicago is a tough team, I wasn't expecting a cakewalk last night. Their record is deceiving but I'm still taking the Red Wings in a seven game series. No way does anyone beat Detroit four games out of seven in a playoff setting.
