ComradeWasabi 109 Report post Posted December 11, 2008 We're gonna end up like the Wings; we know they should win so we don't vote, then when the other guys start getting a lead on us and we get behind, we have to show up, vote for a bit and then disappear again. Oh god, that analogy is way too close for comfort.

crispychris 45 Report post Posted December 11, 2008 I would rather wings players rest up than go play in a bull s*** game .
DyingAlive 27 Report post Posted December 11, 2008 Fan voting SUCKS. It's so stupid. It doesn't work in baseball, why would it work in hockey?
Cern 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2008 I'm just wondering why people are voting for Gonchar and Whitney when NEITHER of them are eligible for the ASG.
Chunkylover 26 Report post Posted December 11, 2008 I don't really care that much anymore. Like many have said, why vote someone in if they don't deserve it? Hossa, Datsyuk, and Zetterberg easily belong there. Lidstrom too, but Raffi and Ozzie have not been playing like All-stars. For me, the less national exposure the Wings get, the better. We don't want people jocking our teams nuts like the Penguins, or Capitals, or Sharks. Let them soak up the spotlight during the regular season while we sneak into the postseason under the cover of darkness.

Saran 1 Report post Posted December 11, 2008 meh who cares we know theyre good enough and if they don't make it we know it was just a bunch of fans voting for their own team which i respect because we all know we do the same.
luvmnger 125 Report post Posted December 11, 2008 let our boys rest....other than the skills contest....who cares who goes...who wins i vote for a new all-star game! lets go over/ under 4 years in the league make the vets want to beat the kids make the kids want to show the big boys how to skate makes things interesting.....doesnt it? i dont think that either team will say..."it doesnt mean anything"....and mean it. the kids would have arguably the best offensive on ice...and the vets would have a formidable defence. thomas/lundqvist/fleury nabokov/khabibulin/osgood thats my 2 cents
SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted December 11, 2008 Meh, pretty much all all-star games now in any professional sports league are popularity contests. Would I like to see 10 Wings in the all-star game? Sure. But the game doesn't count for anything and you risk injury in a game that doesn't mean much in the grand scheme o things. If somebody responds with what about the preseason, you got some similarity in that of course, but preseason while meaningless in record/stats does help you get ready for the regular season. All-star games are just that, all-star games. They don't really serve the purpose of getting ready for the rest of the regular season or playoffs. They are just, there, more or less. I'm not against the concept of all-star games whatsoever, it's fun of course and I'll watch it, but I'm not going to cry over spilled milk if fans of other teams outvote the Red Wings or Red Wing fans or only 1 or 2 Wings get in over 5 or 6. If they want their guys to be more popular, let them have at it.

Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted December 11, 2008 Eh, they're Pens fans. If nothing else (Losing the Cup and Hossa), they're jealous that people have actually known who the Wings are for longer than 2 plus years.
thedisappearer 291 Report post Posted December 11, 2008 It's *so* cute that the Pens fans think we're a rivalry.
puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted December 11, 2008 I don't care if none of the Wings go. It's a joke, as far as I am concerned. Used to be pretty good, when actual all-star calibre players were showcased. That isn't the way it is anymore. Stay home and rest, works for me.
edicius 3,269 Report post Posted December 11, 2008 I'm fine if the Wings don't go to the ASG. We know our players are good and honestly don't need that validation. Let the golden boy go to the ASG and get his ass injured.

Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted December 11, 2008 I say we all band up and try and vote the Pain Train in as a write in candidate.... I know Rafi is up for playing... but damn it it'd be funny to see Nick and Pain Train as the top pairing

Chunkylover 26 Report post Posted December 11, 2008 I don't know if you know this but Rafalski actually has more points than Lidstrom right now. So whatever you're smoking....PASS IT AROUND! I did know that Rafalski was the Wings defense scoring leader because I watched the game last night. I don't think I'm alone here in saying the stats don't tell the entire story. I'm just saying that based on their play right now, neither he nor Osgood belong in the ASG.

ben_usmc 253 Report post Posted December 11, 2008 (edited) man Pens fans hate each other, they also prove they do nothing but watch the Pens. Dion as starting all star in the west? Just because the east has only scrubs at D(except Chara) doesn't mean the west settles for less. Edited December 11, 2008 by ben_usmc
CrossoverThrash 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2008 Who cares, let them be the idiots wasting away hours just so they can see their players in the ASG which is a boring event to begin with,
lets go pavel 2 Report post Posted December 11, 2008 Gotta say, I'm not so sure I'd mind if most of our guys don't go to the ASG. I don't think the extra rest would hurt, and the perceived slight might help some of them play with a little more of a chip on their shoulder.
