puckbags 863 Report post Posted December 13, 2008 LGW: 82-0-0 or bust! Lol..it would seem that way wouldn't it. This place makes me laugh, we are essentially 19-9, I dont know where most of you are from but that is tickling the 70% level. Im not an idiot..I think we can play better but the fact of the matter is that we have such a good team that we can look bored for half a game and still win. The people who are giving the Sharks the cup already make me laugh too. THE SHARKS DO THIS EVERY YEAR, THEY ARE LIKE A DRUNK GUY HAVING SEX, AWESOME AT THE START BUT NO FINISH !! Is it a big game for us against them next week? Yes of course it is but do you think if we lose 6-1 this team is going to panic and mail it in for the rest of the year. This Wing's team is bunch of solid professionals, they know they need to pick it up a bit but as long as they play their best hockey at the right time of the year the will be hoisting the cup again !! Yak19 303 Report post Posted December 13, 2008 I thought this game was a gimme, i was actually expecting a blowout. This is what frustrates me about the Wings, you have a game that if you put forth an effort you WILL win. They tried to continue with the "20 minutes of Red Wings hockey is good enough" but Turco was on his game and that was the difference along with us not playing the other 40 minutes. I feel bad for Conklin this game should have been a shutout, i projected a 3-0 win. I know its one game, and i agree there is no reason to panic but why are we throwing away easy wins? and oh ya Dallas goal in this game: Tom Wandell 1 from (Landon Wilson) = CLOSE THREAD! P.S this is not panic i just expect a whole lot more when you are playing a joke of a team
eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted December 13, 2008 What worried me about this game was how rattled Conklin looked after the second goal. He was totally not together; the biggest indication I saw was how he reacted on a Dallas dump in. Dallas dumped in for a complete change. Conklin went behind the net to gather the puck, but mishandled it. The Wings defenseman who was right there picked up the puck without difficulty, so there was no danger even if Dallas forwards were coming in, but Conklin dove towards the front of the net as if to make a save, and his save attempt didn't actually block any portion of the net. After that point, as well as some other evidence later in the period that Conklin was quite rattled, I was hoping to see Osgood start the third because Conklin was clearly off his game at that point. But we have looked bad nearly every game this year. They've looked good in every game this year. Plus their team is sustainably better then last year. We hardly changed things up at all except Hossa. Nothing has changed since last year, yet we're playing 10x worse. Maybe it was a fluke last year, we had easy draws up to the penguins. It's time to change something, get some new people in, and some people out. The 4th line has been awful this season. Get Helm and Leino in their.

Get Helm and Leino in their. Nothing the Sharks do between now and the start of the playoffs means jack s*** to me...if and when they can win come playoff time they will get my respect but until then no !! You saying or hinting that us winning the cup last year was a fluke is one of the silliest things I have ever heard in my life. As for changes to the lineup this year I think we will make some like we do every year around the deadline but suggesting at the 30 game mark when we are 19-5-4 that Holland is going to make any big changes to a lineup that essentially won us the cup last year is wishful thinking if you are in that crowd. I would like to see Helm playing for the big squad full time but I'm not sure how it works with the cap and I also think it is going to be good competition for the 6th d man spot with Chelios coming back if he is healthy and can give us some good minutes. Like every year I'm not going to panic, its an 82 game schedule with its up and downs and I know how good this team is and what we can do when the games really count !! clutchngrab 12 Report post Posted December 13, 2008 The biggest problem, besides less than stellar defense and goaltending, is motivation. As a team they are not hungry enough and rarely play a 60 minute game. Some younger blood on this team in place of, say, maltby or draper might be the kick in the pants they need. They either need more speed or more banging from the 4th line to change the tempo of a game. Hossa has been the spark far more than he should have to be. I wonder when they will decide to turn it on? Mors 201 Report post Posted December 13, 2008 My biggest concern was this appeared to be Lidstrom's worst game of the season. He really didn't look like he even cared out there.
edicius 3,269 Report post Posted December 13, 2008 My biggest concern was this appeared to be Lidstrom's worst game of the season. He really didn't look like he even cared out there. And directly following what I thought was his best game of the season, to boot. Thought he might have been turning the corner, but perhaps not. I mean, on that Brunnstrom goal, he just...just...let him walk in. He actually PEELED OFF from Brunnstrom. I can understand not wanting to accidentally screen Conklin, but he just kind of waved his stick at Brunnstrom, began to skate away from him and let him do what he wanted with the puck. That's not Nick Lidstrom-style defense. That's, to be blunt, some really lazy s***.
Red Crazy 201 Report post Posted December 13, 2008 I agree. Nick was really off tonight, he has not been playing up to his level all year. Could Nick's age and a long playoff run be catching up with him???? Or is this just a "Hangover" and their record is overblown with one goal wins??? It will be interesting what Coach Babcock can do to bring them out of this funk!
swansoccer13 1 Report post Posted December 13, 2008 Was it just me or on the second goal for dallas was the far winger (Neil ?) offsides by a couple feet lol seems like Lidstrom was thrown off and ultimately out of the play. just my own thinking i guess
