VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted December 19, 2008 So what do we think, folks? Are the WIngs back? Or was this a fluke? Me, personally, I think that now that they've heard the crowd cheer as loud as they did and remember how fun it is to beat up on a team, tired or not, they're going to start showing up every game. I think they remember what it feels like to be the Wings from last year, and they're not going to want to lose that. I say from here on out, the Wings dominate the season. Bannedforlife 403 Report post Posted December 19, 2008 Holy crap! I almost didn't start Conklin on my fantasy team, I can't believe he shut them out!!!
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted December 19, 2008 Completely shut down. They had 8 shots and 6 scoring chances in the first 10, and didnt generate much afterwards. Had to do with the Wings defence, which were shutdown tonight. Thats sick. Hopefully we can build on it. Hopefully the Wings realize how much easier the game is when you play well defensively. Guest mindfly Report post Posted December 19, 2008 Great game, dont care if they were tired or not, 6-0 is awesome... we need to pull a win in the shark tank in regulation so we mindf*ck them a bit more!

ProfessorLidstrom5 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2008 Now that, ladies and gentlemen, was Detroit Red Wing hockey at its finest. I don't want to hear the excuse from the Sharks that it was a back-to-back game. Such a lame excuse anyways IMO. GO WINGS!!!!!!!!

YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted December 19, 2008 The Wings started off a little tentative as both teams were feeling each other out but after a few minutes the Wings took over and after a couple good chances in the first for the Sharks the Wings suffocated them. Conklin didn't have a lot of work and the Wings were extremely disciplined in not taking penalties and the way they controlled the game. There was maybe one bad giveaway but other than that they were playing the type of hockey that won them the cup. Full effort by everyone and it's a testament to the way the coaching staff got the Wings prepared. Damn. Thats something we haven't seen all season. Can't believe I missed 90% of this game. FinRedWing 172 Report post Posted December 19, 2008 Great game, great crowd. Dats is an animal. Filppula has 3 goals in his last 6 games, much better. Note to Doug Wilson: From my experience,Nabokov for Raycroft would be a great trade.

Guest mindfly Report post Posted December 19, 2008 I thought we'd loose...5-2 or something did i not say?, but the wings prooved me wrong... ive been wrong before lol, i didnt think the tough schedule would make the sharks look so bad.
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted December 19, 2008 I hope so, they could steam role the league if they wanted too. I always maintained that this team could win every game with a full effort. Every game. But its a question of motivation. Lets face it. Its a lot easier to get up for a team that is currently considered the best in the league, and is doing so with McLellan on the bench. Thats motivation for our squad, and for Babcock as well. I'm sure he didn't want people to start thinking McLellan was pulling the strings behind the cup. As for whether or not the Wings can continue this, I doubt they will in such a dominating fashion. But I think this will earn us some wins with 2+ goal differentials. Ultimately, I still think the Wings need to make some space for one or two guys who can remind the team that not everyone has had such a fulfilling career and that you need to work hard for your wins. puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted December 19, 2008 it was nice to see the team so confident and in control. That's what I've been looking for and hadn't seen this season, really. I am daring to think this could be the first of a long string of Wings-style wins.
Yak19 303 Report post Posted December 19, 2008 WOW the boys OWNED tonight. The defence was that Red Wings defence of old and that really let us be comfortable in the game. All the SJ shots after maybe that little 10minute good start they had were from wide angles, every shot came in from the side nothing to worry about. Datsyuk was a god amongst men tonight. Conkquerer with the SO, give the assist to the entire Wings D. The only thing that would have made this game better is if it was shown on Versus. I would have loved the post game commentary, "um wa they gaaah" - ya shut the f*** up. GO WINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted December 19, 2008 It's so great to see how this team can play when the actually give a sh*t. Yeah. It kinda pisses me off that much more, knowing what this team could do if they brought it even half the time.

Sure they've had a tough schedule. That's hockey. It was the Wings who made them look bad. I seriously can't tell if you're a comic genius, or a friggin idiot. VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted December 19, 2008 Let's compare, shall we? 1st Sharks-Wings matchup: A tired Wings team is beaten 4-2. 2nd Sharks-Wings matchup: A tired Sharks team is beaten 6-0. So which team is better when they're tired? Doesn't that mean anything?
RedWingedKitten 9 Report post Posted December 19, 2008 The Wings bent those Sharkies over and humped them into submission! And Datsyuk! What a game! This shows what can happen when the Wings want to win. KEEP IT UP! And can you say SHUTOUT?
